I'm scared to ask, but is there any way I can know how much this costs to do?

What power are you expecting to run?

I'll definitely have to read through that thread... 11 pages though, I'll have to do it later Click here to enlarge

Yep.. but these turbo motors have put out a lot more so who knows what it potentially could be making.

originaly it was to be 450-500 but we over shot that by about 100hp it is at 500 w now on the brake in map and makes 607 wheel on the 15.5 psi map.

Water to air is far more eficent than air to air and alows for far more flexibilty in design and packaging. this is especaly true in a street car. Air to air systems only work when the car is moving, this is far from optimal when you are siting at a stop lignt about to pounce on your competion.

Indeed true. But what if the water is already at 150 degrees from a pull you did 15 seconds ago? Good luck trying to cool it off by the time the light turns green. There are downsides to water cooling too, not just air cooling for that matter.

If you are geting 150 degree water temps, then the system is falty or designed poorly! To little flow, to high volume, restrictions, poor exchanger, and so on!

True to an extent but he is correct that it takes more energy to cool a water-air system and once it is heated up it is more susceptible to heat soak. That said, a water-air system is more effective at cooling and is ultimately capable of lowering temps far more.

Water to air systems only work when the car is moving. Water flows through the FMHE and air passes through the FMHE when the car is moving, hence cooling the water. They are more efficient in that they usually have very little boost pressure drop as compared to an air-air setup. But when you have a turbo, who cares? Turn the boost up. On a centri supercharged system, that's a different story, as you can't just turn up the boost.
