    Rum Bum Racing BMW M3 wins Grand-AM 200 - BMW's in 4 out of first 5 spots

The Grand-Am 200 in the Continental Tire series which kicks off the Rolex 24 weekend is now complete. Rum Bum Racing's finished 1st in the GS class along with setting the fastest lap. The Ford Mustang Boss 302 by Multimatic Motorsports finished right behind the M3. The next three spots were all BMW M3's with Turner Motorsport finishing in third place and Fall Line occupying 4th and 5th. BimmerBoost will be following the Continental Tires series. Results and explanation of the classes below:

The GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge features sports cars manufactured from around the world, brought straight from the showroom floor, that race side by side with only minor modifications in the area of safety. Like the GRAND-AM Rolex Series, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge races two classes at the same time: Grand Sport (GS) and Street Tuner (ST).

The starting fields for Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge typically feature more than 60 of today's hottest import and domestic production cars, racing simultaneously and competing for both overall and class honors. Its races are primarily run as the featured support events for the Rolex Sports Car Series, however, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge steps into the spotlight with several of its own feature races in 2010.

The big-bore Grand Sport (GS) class features a rules package allowing exotic international machines like the Porsche 997 and Cayman, Nissan 350Z, BMW M3, Subaru WRX, Audi S4 and others to go head-to-head with American iron such as the Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang GT and Dodge Challenger. The smaller Street Tuner (ST) class is GRAND-AM's offering to the import and compact car crowd, with the Honda Civic Si, MAZDASPEED3, Mazda RX-8, Mazda MX-5, Chevrolet Cobalt SS, Dodge SRT4, Mini Cooper S, BMW 328i, BMW 330i and other eligible models.
All Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge classes run on Continental
Tires, and at least two drivers must drive under green flag conditions, making at least one driver change mandatory.
The series' first season under the GRAND-AM banner, in 2001, produced much of the same types of racing it had seen in its predecessor, the Motorola Cup, and the same classes. In 2002, the series' names changed to Grand Sport I and II and Street Tuner I and II.

This is the first season for Continental Tire as the title sponsor of the series. Previously, the series was sponsored by KONI Shock Absorbers, and known as GRAND-AM Cup, as well as the KONI Challenge Series and KONI Sports Car Challenge.

The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge has a long lineage, and has been known by many different names. Yet, one thing that hasn't changed is the series' level of competition, one which is defined by its quality drivers, recognizable manufacturers, car counts, level playing field and strong on-track action.

Interesting that it was built by Fall-line. Back to back? Impressive.

Great race, watched it today on Speed. 11 M3's in the GS class, they are taking over the Continental Tire Series.

Someone finally got the 1-series coupe on the track. Doran Racing is fielding two 128i's in ST class, with a big sponsor on the side of the car Office Depot.

Matt, do we know each other? Which car? We handle all electronics and I was working on race strategy on the 66 & 67 (which won the GT Class.)

Rum Bum is a great group of people! Their car was built by Fall-Line, but all the electronics and tuning are done by Apex dealer and very good friend Ed Senf. He's one of the top tuners in the country and most recently worked with us on the Turner Motorsports S65/Pectel motor we did.
