Need for Speed Shift 2 unleashed trailer

I know it isn't sim style racing but that does not mean it is not fun. Sure looks like a blast although I never played the first one:

This IS supposed to be sim style racing, the second attempt from EA. I played the first one for about 5 minutes and couldn't deal with it. It takes mods to make the cars feel right, and they don't have real suspension tweaking, just slider bars.

This one is supposed to be much better though, and the SimBin guys are working on it with less restriction this time. We will see.

The first one was such garbage...

I don't know what people see in it, maybe they've never played sims?

this is a biased review imo but gives you an idea of what the first one was about:

I played ahift up until the last level, where european cars wemt to us street circuits and it went silly.
It was a nice game, but not a real sim.
    Looking forward to this though.

Sense of speed, easy to pick up, fun factor.

Sims are different, sometimes arcadey games that are not realistic are just fun.

Oh no, I'm not implying that it wasn't fun, but the guy that reviewed it was saying it felt so realistic, sense of speed, etc,....I guess from someone who goes from Full Arcade to Full Sim, this would be something in the middle.

God that looks boring. I hope the game is more exiting than that.
This shows very clearly that a console totally sucks as a way to control a car.
Only works well in the hands of James Bond while controlling a 7-series. And you saw where that car ended up.

Ok, finally got some time to sit down and play a few more races. I tweaked w/ the control settings because stock settings are horrible - the game is actually decent! They didn't ruin this one! It still feels a little arcadish, but more close to say forza/gran turismo than test drive unlimited...or like the previous need for speeds

so compared to Shift , what's different? how does it feel?
in Shift 1 controlling the car with ESP and TCS in off mode was just a nightmare !

Ok, I played more, and got the E82 135i....game is garbage unless you have a steering wheel. I can't play with the controller if my life depended on it...even with suspension tweaks...

    It has my car?? PERFECT!
That's why I allways say consoles are rubbish. It would be s stupid game if it was perfectly controllable with a console.
I've worn out 3 steering wheels in my time. Working nr 4 now.
It is the only way properly to play a.racing game.

What I don't understand is why they can't just make Forza 3 for PC.... OH right, because they would lose their fan base on the consoles Click here to enlarge

Exactly, just like Halo. Only the first Halo was also available on PC's. After that it was only XBox.
And the same with GT5. I would love to have Grand Tourismo5 on my PC. Just isn't gonna happen. And I will not buy a console. I will not sit on the couch with a loose steering wheel in my lap.
Steering wheel bolted to the desk, sitting in front of the screen, door closed, concentrate. That's how I drive my sims Click here to enlarge

I got a Sparco seat lying around the attic, but never bothered.to set it up properly.
It just takes too much room to have a.setup like.that, for .me anyway.

I use a wooden folding table from walmart, 19.99...

Stable and perfect height. Dinning room chair and you're all set...
