CTS-V coupe vs C63...help me decide

Im pretty sure someone is picking up my car next week... either way I cant decide which car I want. Driven both, went to both dealers again yesterday to sit in them, get a feel and see which one I will be happier with.

They each have their ups and downs. The C63 with the p31 package is 80k new! Thats just ridiculous...I am looking used found one for 69.9k and got them down to 68k...has 3k miles fully loaded w/ p31. So that made me think get an 09 with P30 (brakes, suspension etc.) and just tune it... can prob find this for 55k...

The negatives of the C63 are the dash is just so plasticy and sub par, I usually dont car but there are so many C class mercs in LA, its kind of fun to have something unique (cts-v) although I do like its exterior I know some dont...but I think it is pretty sleek in all black with the red brake calipers. Also I know the model makeover is next year and that might drive me crazy,

The CTS-V coupe, styling is subjective but I love the coupe...Love the C63 when black as well....The interior on the V is much nicer, whole dash is leather, buttons etc look much better, when you sit in it feel like a higher standard car. People say the build quality is not as good but when i check the thing out it feels solid, with every other american car I would say its true but this thing has no squeaks or rattles...I turned to bass and volume up all the way, you can usally hear a rattle this way, but there was nothing, I do have to say when I test drove the C63 it felt like a train, like you can drive it thru a brick wall and the car wouldnt be harmed...although that did mean it feels heavy, Im sure it lightens up a speed on turns....but the V actually felt lighter.

The negatives of the CTS-V are its almost 300 lbs heavier, although it seems to perform very well on the track compared to C63, M3 and M5 etc.... I do wonder over time it the build quality will stay or if the car will slowly deteriorate. There is a certain trust I feel when purchasing a mercedes or bmw, that I do not feel with the Cadillac. I am MOST WORRIED about creaks starting to happen, it will drive me nuts...I dont like that at all

PRICES: I can get GM employee pricing on the V goes from 70k to 65k new, people are selling used coupes for same price, wierd.

The C63 I want new is 80k, just stupid...can find used for around 68k...or go for an older model and get it for 50-55k. Prefering to keep differential stock etc..dont want to deal with warranty issues so wanted p30/p31 package for diff and suspension.

    Any input appreciated,

If there is a way to make a poll, I would appreciate it, I didnt know how.

This is gonna be a tough call. Those are two great cars.

As far as modability, with a CTS V you can make tons reliable power with pulley swap and exhaust. Thats one advantage.

C63 is definately an awesome car, I really like it, the engine is smooth as butter and it handles pretty good for a 2 ton livingroom.

I think the CTS V would be cheaper in the long run to maintain and mod. I would get the C63 if they were cheaper to modify, but if you had to choose between those two I would get the CTS V because its a bargain.

You have to make a poll when you create thread. If you like, create another one with a poll and we can close this one.

They are both awesome cars but the C63 will get a coupe soon and you might be kicking yourself when that comes out.

The CTS-V is cheaper, newer, and a better mod platform. They are both really sweet rides and this one is a toss up in my mind.

    This just worried me:
    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ound-like.html

a bunch of CTS-V owner complaining about squeaking and rattles! Click here to enlarge This thread might of made up my mind for me...and i was leaning toward the V till this.

Also the C63 at the massachusettes dealer just called me back...they are lowering their price...I think if I can get the 2011 C63 w/ p31 package fully loaded w/ 3000 miles for 66k it would be a great deal...what you think?

I think you can't go wrong with either car. Since you are local and you know you can get good deals on C63 tuning as well as help me out with BenzBoost what the hell, go with the C63 Click here to enlarge

Benz has its fair share of squeaks, rattles, and brake noises. You are not gonna get a car that is 100% free of noises.

For the money, I'd get the CTS-V coupe since it has 6sd trans and F/I from factory, with all the luxury amenities...
Modding will be easier, including the tranny unlike the C63.
Or just wait.. Ive seen brand new $120K ZR-1s recently sell for $98k-$99k...

That just seems to be leather friction. Some leather conditioner will make it disappear...
I'd be more interested in rattle sounds while driving, closing doors, reaction to bass, etc...

its discussed on the site that it is not the leather but the actual seat.

    also MSN AUTO:

Pros: Smooth acceleration and handling, exterior styling Cons: The interior of this car was an absolute deal breaker. If you do not like squeaks and rattles, then avoid this car ........... on a brand new cts, there was a symphony of squeaks and rattles from the center console, shifter, dashboard, and doors............what a total letdown. Almost hard to believe that this was the 08 north american car of the year. They should have paid more attention to interior quality because the actual ride...

if you just google cts and squeak there are tons of page! $#@!...pretty disappointing

65k otd + shipping and sales tax and cali registration? So your looking at approx 72k otd once its all said and done on 80k msrp vehicle? Thats not a bad deal at all! However I am sure you can find a c63 that has less options for less otd. The question then becomes do you want to pay for the p31, h73, 320 which are about 12k in options?

Thanks mike....and I see what you are saying...but I do want a newer car (going to try and hold on to it) and to get the lsd, brakes and suspension i would have to find an 09 with p30, cause from 2010 was p31 so I might as well get this car which is at a good price...then I can just get a tune and call it the day. I also read about audio/ipod troubles in the older models...i want everything to work perfectly.

But you are right. As long as im getting a good deal ill be happy with this car...and it is full loaded so ill have all my gizmos that I havent had in the GT3.

The M3 is pretty good about this overall, no major squeaks or rattles.

I probably asked already, but how did you like your RS4?
