Indeed. That rod ratio isn't bad at all. Maybe the N55 isn't all choked up and piss performing as we think it is...

Well I have said all along the N55 is going to be a great platform as it will be easier to do large singles on it. When we see those... it will be interesting.

It would be nice to take the N55 exhaust manifold and slap it on the N54, chop off the turbo and weld on a GT40 Flange.. weeeee!!

Also, the N55 has the best rod/stroke (Rod-lenght div stroke) design as well 144.35mm/89.6mm=1.611 r/s (makes it happier +7000rpm) vs. N54 135mm/89.6mm=1.506 r/s (runs happy up to ~6800rpm). Not even the S54 got that r/s (139mm/91mm=1.527) eventhou it could rev up to ~8400rpm.
Thanks. What a surprise that the stock N54 rod-ratio is so poor. 1.61 is way better, but I believe I'd like to go even to 1.65 or so, as far as the piston compression height remains acceptable for a turbo engine.

Wow so the N54 has some short rods... That definitely adds more friction due to higher side loads at high RPM. I didnt know it had shorter rods than the S54. It's a low end motor inside and out.

This is pretty interesting and definitely give me optimism about the N55... better top end at least on paper.

Nah, this one is more general and the other is specifically PAW info.

So a stroker kit for the N54 (later on down the road when the market opens up) is definately going to be a $#@!; the rod angles for stock stroke are already extreme. A stroker kit will need redesigned pistons and rods anyway, might as well fix the stroke/rod ratio that way.

Any room to really gain displacement anyway?
