Why driving in Malibu is awesome

Or not... depending on who you are. Still, the canyons are a ton of fun as long as you stay in your damn lane:

I understand they are trying to use the entire road so they can take the corner better but the street is no place for that. They should stay in their lane.

Those people are idiots. They should go to a closed track. I remember I went over a rock (truck in front blocked the view), blew a tire, and bent the inner lip of a HRE 540r rim on my M3, back in 2008 when leaving Malibu on Kanan road, at 5pm. It was the first time the iphone was actually useful. In about 7 minutes, I was able to find a tow truck, tire shop (only one with the tire size I needed) that delivered the tire to another shop that could install it and fix the rim. I was so glad it all worked out that night.

That is an extremely dangerous road for inexperienced drivers, such as those in the video.
Some people live long, meaningful lives.

Other people eat shit and die.

I'm not racist, I hate everybody equally; especially fat people.

+1000000 there are some canyon roads that are absolutely amazing that people don't know about. Sometimes I like to just go out and get lost in the canyons finding new spots to drive. I need my damn car back.

Not sure if you know about decker canyon road. Not many people use to know about it, but I think word has since gotten out. I use to drive on this road almost daily, to get to the beach. I grew up in lake sherwood and westlake village.

Decker is no joke though, you can easily get into trouble. You can get to it off of PCH or if you are coming from the 101, take westlake blvd exit, it eventually turns into decker canyon road.

There are some youtube videos of people driving on this road, but they don't do it justice.

I live close to Malibu and used to ride up there all the time. Over the years its lost its charm; now I prefer to hike the canyons. Last year I went out once - on a borrowed 2009 KLR650 on which I proceeded to spank some 'busa guys I was riding with. The thing was slow as mud but with all that trail and knobbies you could push the front or back it into corners in way that would get me killed on my Duc. It reminds me of when I used to take my 74 MGB up there - the brakes faded early, the car either pushed like a donkey or went into snap oversteer, and it was a ton of fun.

I guess my point is that fast, capable vehicles aren't as fun on public roads are for me. I could be silly in things like the "b" and the KLR and not put myself or anyone else at real risk. Shenanigans with modern machinery are better dealt with on-track. With Willow, Fontana and Buttonwillow all reasonably close, and so many events, I save my trips to Malibu for dinner at the Reel In.

The Reel Inn is a pretty good spot.

I think it is that modern machinery has gotten to such a high performance level that pushing it to the limit the street is just being irresponsible.
