Our MRI and CT got rigged in today, pretty cool watching them move these guys in inch by inch working as a team. Here are some pics:

The MRI was by far the hardest part as it weighs about 14,000 lbs and cleared the height of the opening by less than 1mm and barely cleared a tree in it's way.

No, it's an MRI room in our new facility we are building. An MRI is essentially a HUGE magnet. The images an MRI produces are distorted by outside frequencies such as lights, cars, radio, microwave, ect. ect. A copper shield prevents nearly all of these frequencies from entering the room and ruining the MRI image.
You should start a thread with all the piks of this. I think its really interesting

I'll show more pics as they come in.

MRI's cost anywhere from $300k to $3MIL brand new.

Used, you can them from $70k and up.

This one is a used 2003 Siemens 1.5t and cost us around $350k installed. Brand new this sold for around $1.1MIL

What surprised me is that your MRI room has a window.
Shouldn't that be covered with copper also?
It just wouldn't be practical to have all sort of iron things fly in through that window when the MRI is powered up.
    These things are very heavy.
At my work they have a few, the newest is with a 3Tesla coil, and they had to reinforce the entire floor of the building just to be able to get it in place.
There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works
