ESS M3 Vs RB 335 Dyno

I asked Mikewads for the .drf files so we can compare our dyno runs. I think its a good comparison really. old setups so we dont know exactly what each of us are laying down as of right now.

Power delivery between the 2 is completely different. I wonder how these would compare on the road.. (w/o N20 of course Click here to enlarge )

Click here to enlargemy dyno's are screwy, because of bad rpm pick up some of the runs were not good, so some only show vs speed, while other s show vs rpm..

Lost Marine, did you really only rev to 6,000RPM when you dyno'd? The torque curve with those RB turbos looks VERY good, and should be even more even (ha) with the G4 or PRO board. (assuming you aren't going to get a Procede or SB2)

they are cutoff right there, we were fighting a bad tach pickup all day and the 502 run was cutoff due to boost limit . they do taper off, but those 2 specific runs do not. i have others that i can post but are the lower #'s..

Ugh, this is one of those times that thread mirroring would come in handy so this could be in the S65 section and N54 section.

added a few graphs. note the actual HP #'s marked on them and power vs rpm/spd vary from graph so pay attention

Lostmarine is the power drop off due to tuning or is it due to the turbos not being able to hold boost?

here is an early Mustang dyno, done before the dynojet. mods are all the same. stoc is not stock, its stock boost. so RB w/ FBO and racefuel. #'s are not important, what is is the difference in taper at the top. it CAN be tuned out..

It's a VT575, but he's running a TAD more boost, so I'm not exactly sure. But he's ran 7.70s 60-130 and trapped 126mph, so I doubt he'd kill him, but I would love to see what LM does 60-130, or some other pulls, his car has been impressive as well.

Have you ran any Supercharged M3's at Gustav's event or elsewhere? What were the results?

I run the same ESS version 575 and was 2 cars behind. Think that if we had the same weight we would have been even. Will probably run again next year and make videos

Threads merged, want to keep the discussion in one place.

I'm working on something that will allow the same thread to be in more than one place, just be patient, it is very difficult to do.

Look how much longer the M3 powerband is... and look at the M3's torque curve and how flat it is Click here to enlarge Also, the M3 can make much more power with less torque, imagine if it had the same torque if not higher?

With no NOS on the M3 this 335 would own him bad! Slap NOS on the 335 and rape him again Click here to enlarge

Sticky, you have to realize that LM's tune's boost control is not as stable as it can be ... he's on JB3 ...with the G4 board or on standback or procede v4 that torque curve would've been A LOT flatter..

LM, looks like you still have boost taper at > 6000rpm, true?

With that non-intercooled 5.5psi boost setup I ran the 60-130 in 9.0 secs. Did you ever test your 60-130 around the time you dyno'd the car?

no, i have no vbox and didnt know a dyno can do 60-130? only comparison i have of that kinda run is Vs Byzantines lambo which has run 7.9 and the 8.3-8.4? 60-130. im guesssing in the lower 8's, possibly high 7's if run max boost and keep no taper on the topend.

vbox is coming for xmas though Click here to enlarge

No, it would not, as this M3 is DCT and traps higher off the nitrous. So, not sure how you came to that conclusion.

I look forward to seeing the numbers evolve with the G4.

Just a reminder to everyone. These dynos are from when I had the VT1-535 setup (non-intercooled/5.5 psi). Which is why I quoted my old 9.0 second run in the 60-130.

Once you get your VBOX numbers you will know if you can compete with other M3 cars that have a VT1-535 kit. That fastest 335i I see in the bimmerboost list is a 9.09 done by hotrod182. That's a long way from the 7s.
