Yes it does but it was impressive the way the X5 hung in there until the very top.

well yea, thats how usual legit races are. not like races from 40-100 where i can hang as well. but above 100 is where the main part of racing comes into play. at least for me it does.

for the first 3 gears in my car i keep up with m5's, c63... etc but after that the top end i get raped. like this video hahaha

SUV's are starting to get pretty fast. The X5 M could be a real best if it didn't weigh so damn much. I'm still hoping they do an X3 M or at least put a V8 in the X3... I'm probably dreaming but it would be great.

ya it definitely needs to lose some weight, perhaps an x1 M although it looks abit more crossover'ish

X1 is overkill in my mind, X3 is enough.

The TT-RS would be so much fun to own!

PP Performance, interesting name..... sounds like some "performance enhancement" pill.

Will you see the other cars with PP-Performance upgrades on the same site? This 135i with 430 bhp did very well against a modded 525 bhp C63 AMG:

it doesn't need to lose weight you would just need a different car lol, its designed to be one of the fastest suv's around while keeping all the conveniences and durability of an suv, if you need something lighter, faster, or more agile thats why they invented sports cars!! I think bmw did an amazing job with this truck especially at its weight, but the weight isnt wrong its appropriate for that type of vehicle.

I kind of see your point but I think Porsche has it right.

The first Cayenne was built with utility and off-roading in mind. It ended weighing way too much due to it. The new Cayenne cuts the curb weight significantly, making it that much better of a performance option while still retaining a good amount of utility.

The X5 M is heavy for a performance SUV, as Porsche has proved, it does not need to be. The X3 has the potential to be even better. SUV's just continue to evolve and are getting to the point they can shame a lot of cars which just means you can have everything in one. If you are building a performance SUV, might as well build the best one you can.

At least when Lamborghini says they are building an SUV then actually build an SUV, not a modified car.......

    Porsche did the same bull$#@!.

I know Mercedes and Nissan actually have some off-road capable ones.

But of course, pretending to need an AWD SUV-sized but not SUV-capable vehicle is all the rage in the USA....

Or maybe I'm wrong and the BMW X5 just needs some off-road tires to do it's job?

I know Top Gear or someone got an X5 stuck on a GRASS HILL! Come on, a grass hill with a 20degree incline? Might as well be in a 5 series. (car)

4Runner? Those are definitely off-road capable. It's funny because almost all the Japanese and Domestic brands have off-road capable vehicles, but most of the big German ones don't. I haven't seen one of those Mercedes box-jeep-things in action but I've heard they do pretty well.

I guess BMW is building that MINI "beachcomber" AWD thing, but I don't know if it will be beefy enough to hang with some of the other vehicles in the off-road market.

Porsche just has no idea what off-roading is.

The original Cayenne is VERY adept offroad, one of the cricitisms is that Porsche focused too much on this aspect rather than road performance:
