    @SPEC-01

    Someone over on e90post bought a stage 2+ non-SAC and it seems his disk was labelled the wrong way round. His installer put it in the opposite way to how it was marked and he wanted to check if that was ok:

    So you fitted it as it was marked on the clutch disc?

    Does he use a SMFW? I think he is otherwise the friction disc is not sprung.

    I do and the hub with the springs fits perfectly in the steel SMFW.

    But I understand the confusion because I did ask Spec before installing.

    Yep steel SMFW. Thanks for that, I'll pass the message on.

    I'm installing my stage 3+ this weekend, so that will be a great help. Out of interest, do you have a grinding noise in the 1500-2500rpm range under medium to heavy load with your setup?

    Do you mean gearbox chatter?

    In 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear its pretty loud.
    If you go WOT between 1000 and 2000RPM in 3rd gear its like driving a Porsche GT3RS.

    In neutral at idle you can also hear the rattle/chatter but not that loud.

    That disc is labeled correctly for use with a single-mass flywheel. There doesn't appear to be any issue at all. That being said, he is good to go!

    As for gear-noise (a.k.a. clatter), it really isn't that bad at all on this car. We have a 335is here and I have never thought of the noise produced relative to the elimination of the DMF as being excessive. You can have a bit of rattle at idle with the clutch pedal released but this is not evidence of any issue. Nor is resonance under load.

    SMFW that are lighter tend to have chatter at idle from what I have seen. Pressing the clutch pedal in a bit tends to eliminate it.

    I really don't care about idle. And yes its really not that bad and also if you press the clutch its gone.

    But at low RPMS in 2nd and 3rd gear, the gearbox chatter is really from another planet. At least on my car it is.
