Yea, there are a few Horsepoewr Freaks cars that are SMG. This should be no different.

Yes, but most chose the manual. HPF has had a few very powerful smg.

IDK - I had SMG, and beat the crap out of it. Click here to enlarge

However, my car had 333 HP - this has about double... Point is, the transmission is the same manual or SMG; the clutch is what is hydraulically actuated - the load isn't on the SMG parts if that makes sense... A few guys have very high HP SMG cars, and I don't hear of too many transmission failures. However, I do know that some also swap to pure manual - so who knows for sure.

I have heard nothing but problems with the SMG on higher powered HPF cars...my buddy Huy was one of the only ones I know who didn't and that was a stage 2...and he recently did the 6MT swap. One of the original stage 3 owners had so many problems with his setup he pulled the kit and sold everything separate. So much wasted time doing teach-in crap etc...

    Not worth the trouble imo.

That being said I'm sure the MaxPSI setup in its current state will work amazing with the SMG...anything over a Stage 2 though...I will reserve opinion for truth. I'm sure they'll have a bulletproof setup eventually but it'll probably require some challenges to be overcome.

E46Fanatics sponsored an E46 M3 SMG road race car at one point. The driver was Ralph Warren. Anyway, they had a lot of issues with the SME pump/actuators overheating, and eventually moved on to a different race car. I don't know anyone that's done anything more serious than that car for semi-pro racing...and made the SMG work.

I'm sure the SMG can be made to work out just fine but I am a 6MT guy at heart.

This kit has me seriously considering just waiting longer and going with a MaxPSI turbo kit from the start instead of a SC kit.

I should clarify: I'm talking about the road racing environment, not on street cars or drag racing environment.

The Loaded m3 with a 7.22 lap at Nurburgring, has smg. Was about 530 whp. Not high in this context, but nevertheless, a great system on the track when it works imo. The new pagani and Lamborghini still uses computer controled single clutch solutions.

Those single clutch systems are significantly more advanced then previous systems. Example, the Aventador's trans is handling the UGR-TT setup completely fine because the trans is OEM programmed to eliminate TQ during gearshifts.

Single clutches trans still aren't perfect at low speed driving (stop lights, parking, driving around town), especially when compared to traditional Automatics or DCTs.

Basically what this comes down to is an SMG isn't really a hurdle to power handling.

I am no expert in this matter, but i think that has to do with how the engine is controled during the shift.

Personally I think it's an inherent problem between the calculated wheel speed & the gearbox trying to determine whether to shift up, down, hold a gear or engage the clutch to avoid stalling. On the track it works flawlessly, because you're going WOT & upshifting, on the breaks & downshifting, or high RPM at partial throttle holding a gear. But when you're going from a stop to 15 mph, to break for traffic or parallel park, the trans is confused whether to upshift into 2nd, hold 1st or to engage the clutch & prevent the car from stalling (since it's functions nearly identical to a traditional MT).
