    F13 M6 vs F10 M5 duel

We decided to arrange a dual on Sunday between these similar in spec cars. We met up at my place took some pics and off they went. Both cars one up and the pulls where 70-220km/h. A software M5 was meant to come but he couldn't make it so we will be seeing the video soon of that vs the M6. The cars where both stock accept for the M6 which had a Akropovic rear system. The owner only gained 7whp with that.

Needless to say they didn't want me to tag along with the 63.

If I had an M6 I sure as $#@! would want it to be stronger too than an M5. The price tag difference is no joke...

That video makes me wonder if the final drive ratios are quite a bit different.

The difference between the new M5 and M6 in acceleration - F13 M6 versus F10 M5 roll on race videos

Great comparison video here showing the difference between the F10 M5 and the F13 M6. Both cars have the exact same dual clutch transmission and 560 horsepower twin turbo 4.4 liter S63TU V8. So what's the main difference between the two? The weight of the cars with the F13 M6 curb weight at 4088 pounds and the F10 M5 curb weight at 4313 as measured on an independent scale. That makes for a difference of 225 pounds.

225 does not sound like much but in practice in the video, it sure makes a difference. In all fairness to the M5 the M6 does have an Akrapovic rear section exhaust (basically a muffler) which was good for 7 wheel horsepower. Regardless, that 7 wheel horsepower and 225 pounds combine for car lengths against the M5. The reality simply is the F10 M5's weight hurts it.

What's the weight of the passengers in each car? If the M6 has a supermodel and the M5 has a Greco Roman wrestler, that could add another 150+ lbs in favor of the M6...

I doubt a supermodel is driving the M6. I doubt the weight of the drivers is going to be some huge difference. But a valid point.

Wasn't talking about the drivers, but rather the passengers in each car that were operating the cameras. If you have an M6 and can't get supermodel tail... You're doing it wrong.

The m6 is certainly lighter.. but by that much (video results)? I suspect there is more to the story.

The weight of the drivers and passengers are similar. I would say maybe a 20kg advantage to the M6. The runs where straight forward and both drivers that are veterans in doing this agreed that its a true representation of the difference. Keep in mind the M6 has the AKRA pipe whatever that is worth in power and weight as its titanium.
