Sharp pain middle of left hand?

This just started today and it's making it almost impossible to type and do other things which I'm sure you can use your imagination. WTF? Center of my hand sort of at the top. Yes, I'm left handed although ambidextrous really so this isn't a huge deal unless I'm doing something that requires two hands like typing... which I do for over 12 hours a day.

So... how do I make this go away?

While moving the hand more than the fingers. If I keep the hand relatively still I don't notice it.

Bear in mind I am not a doctor, but used to pain in my hands,fingers...due to work.

When I have symptoms like that,it is usually by over-stressing it.

Use a muscle relaxing gel(apply every few hours),bandage your hand to your wrist,if it does not get better within 48 hours get professional help.

R.I.C.E. method. Does wonders for orthopedic and some arthritic pain.

    Probably first signs of RSI.
Since you have it in the hand, I'd suggest a good wrist support, best is a gel support.
Also, don't use heavy duty painkillers with RSI! You suppress the pain and overuse the hurting area resulting in more injury.
And rest, change your sitting position.
You might considder using a separate keyboard instead of the laptop keyboard.
Take pauses when behind the PC. At least until the symptoms go away.
Tantum gel helps fighting the irritation of the joints and tissue and has a slight painreducing effect.

So does my forum and when discussing things with people it's kind of rude to just interrupt and Google everything. Unless that's how you roll. But I was treating this thread as a discussion.

I thought I was just helping you find your answer. Besides, it's not every do you can Google something for someone else.

I agree with the comment about resting the hand and using wrist support.

Give it a little bit (a week or so) to see if it improves, if not, see a doctor. My friend had tendonitis in his had from playing too many video games. He had to were braces for a while, but eventually it went away. I imagine you use a computer for most of the day.

Another thing you can try is taking breaks and doing some stretching exercises ever 20 or 30 minutes. Get up and walk around for 5 minutes or something, moving your wrists and hand through their range of motion. I would try to let the pain subside first before starting this, but it could be a preventative measure for the future.

So far it's ok. Seems to have gotten better after rest. We'll see how it goes.

I doubt this forum has one expert on everything, but there are a lot of intelligent people here who know how to use the tools at their disposal.

Have you never had a face to face discussion in which more information was needed than the participants could provide? This usually results in someone whipping out a cell phone and Googleing it. Considering we are already on the internet to have this discussion, it's only obvious that if you had a question that the participants of the discussion could not answer either because of a lack of knowledge or simply because they were not logged in, an internet search engine would be the logical choice to find your answer.

We live in an instant gratification internet society. Google has become ingrained in it.
