FYI If you drink it on the rocks you might as well buy the cheaper stuff as you lose what makes each scotch different and great when you cool it down.

Favorite recent scotch I had was the Ardbeg Uigeadail. Glenfiddich 15 is my standby.

+1 on Buffalo Trace bourbon too. For the price it's hard to beat.

The ones currently occupying the bar are:

    Scotch:
    Glenmorangie Lasanta
    Glenmorangie Nector d'Or
    Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban

    Bourbon:
    Wathen's Single Barrel
    Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel

I highly recommend all of them. All less than $75/bottle, all better than most costing $200 or more.

Oh lord that is a great whiskey for a college freshmen!

If you like blended whiskey's, drop that canadian crap! My wife and I won't even touch that stuff anymore - although that used to be a staple in my early 20's.

    Same price as well.

This is my favorite mid-range go to bottle...~$45-50 depending on what store you're in. I bought a bunch of when it was on sale for $38 once

It's not peaty and a little sweet, spicy, fruity even.

Is it really that big of a difference? You guys are drinking this straight obviously as I would guess the taste is lost when mixed.

This is also very nice but a bit on the expensive side. My dad gets this out at Christmas with a bit of gentle persuasion!

+1 on the Balvenie. I had their 30? year once, it was pretty awesome.

My staple is Glenfiddich 15. One rock to chill it. My fave bourbon is Knob Creek. Lots of good suggestions in here though, going to check these out (Pendleton sounds awesome). I've been gettin serious with Imperial Stouts as well, my kegerator has Old Rasputin and Dogfish kegs on the twin spout Click here to enlarge

Nothing original or obscure, but I have to go with my man Johnnie, Green Label is by far my favorite scotch. Best enjoyed on a sportfishing yacht in the company of fine ladies.

Yea they have a 30yr called "Thirty" lol. Never had it though. I've had their doublewood, carribean, and 15yr single barrel, and really liked all of them. For the price though, (and provided I'm paying for it...) I can't really think of anything I'd rather drink than the doublewood, unless it's a special occasion

My friend brought over a bottle two nights ago. Was very good indeed.

Actually it was the 15 year single barrel.
