    VRSF FMIC install 135i HALP!

Hey guys, new to the fourm, have been doing a good amount of reading, and think that this seems to be a better alternative to E90post...

so i have a question for you fine folks, today i installed my berk midpipe, and was working on my VRSF FMIC, when i ran into some issues..

i used a dremmel to cut out a good deal of plastic from the inside of the front bumper, but am still having issues with the hoses connecting to the intercooler..

i litterally have had screw drivers on these things trying to pry them in, but am not having any luck..

here are some photos of what i am working with, perhaps you guys could see something that i am not understanding, or missing?

Drivers side, will not go any further in Click here to enlarge

passenger side, wont go in any further

how its sitting, feels like its a little bit low?

    thanks for any help!

You'll need to replace the in/out with proper silicone couplers, can't reuse OEM ones which I think is what I'm seeing you're trying to do in these pics

i think i just figured it all out, they sent me a band clamp, which didnt make any sense, because its "oem" connector ready.. but because of the tolerances, you have to remove the factory hoses, and put them on the intercooler first, then re attach the hoses onto the factory charge piping afterwards.. and iirc the band attaching the factory band is one time use only correct?
if thats the case, that would mean they intend on you having to take off the factory hoses, and having to re attach them with the supplied band clamp

Yes, most OEM charge piping clamps are cut to be removed.

The one he bought is like the HPF one and it uses stock piping and has the same clip type retention system.

Any luck getting it installed? I ordered the same one but am still waiting to get it along with my VRSF downpipes.

HPF has a great YouTube video of them installing their 7" FMIC.

are you sure you arent missing the little black tab up at the bottom of the A/C Condenser? I know on quite a few cars it gets in the way of things, and the last intercooler I had to put on a 135 I had to do a huge amount of cutting to get it to fit way in there.

its a possibility, i am getting ready to go play with it some more here in a few... i havent removed that tab yet, is it absolutely necessary?

The plastic piece on the passengers side of the IC? It wasn't letting my Wagner FMIC seat, so I ripped it the hell out and haven't had problems since. Still wondering what its purpose was.

I know we cleared this up via e-mail already, but in case anyone else was wondering, the customer received one of the few versions we have in stock that allow you to retain the OEM connectors Click here to enlarge

We have two different versions, one is a 2.75" connector that replaces the OEM connector and the other is the OEM connector. The 2.75" version is the one that utilizes the black couplers up above.

Cause it was an install error unrelated to the FMIC. they may be able to help but I figured people here would prob have first hand knowledge and respond faster being it was the weekend.

Ok so it's clips that are under the FMIC not the radiator. Pics are coming.
