Preparing for new build!
Title says it all, I'm preparing to start my build. I'm looking for a little help here. I plan on doing all the bells and whistles and go fast mods.. but I still want to do best bang for my buck. I'm going to make a list of things I'm looking for and I'm going to look at everyone opinions and try and make one hell of a build.
NOTE: Some of these parts are subject to change based on how that top mount turbo works out for Chris.
Is the 1M bumper widebody only? What about the 1M fender or M3 fenders that fit the 135i?
I'll update this post as I get parts / install parts, etc.
Needed:

-Oil Catch Can - http://www.**********s.com/BMS-Oil-C...MW-N54-N55.htm
-Coilovers - ????
-Walnut blasting
If I forgot a major go-fast mod, call me out on it. lol
So go ahead and post if you have an item, if you like it, would have gone with a different brand, etc. I'm going for most bang for my buck, so help me out guys! Thanks.

Ill tell you that I tried the injen intake. It looks terrific. The best looking in my opinion. It's such a pita to work on the car with it in there though. Also the injen filters suck. I ended up going back to a bms dci.

I'd look into the VRSF FMIC. Unless you don't mind dropping the $$$ for AMS

I'm looking for performance and looks, since I want to be able to show it off at a car show... and Injen looks the best IMHO. As for the filters, I've already heard they kind of suck, but I can just replace those when it's time. I'm also not to worried about it being in the way when I have to work on my car. I'll just take it out if I need to.. won't take long, that's for sure. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

What's the gains from using AMS vs VRSF? If it's anything more than 10hp, I'll most likely drop the money on it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I don't think there are any direct comparos but the VRSF looks like an AMS clone.

Op plans to run meth so he's looking for a FMIC with least pressure drop not overly concerned with iat suppression. I think AMS and VRSF are prob best in that regard. Still not much data on the VRSF but I'd go out on a limb and say it prob has minimal pressure drop.

I would venture the pressure drop is extremely low on my intercooler based on the large cross sectional area and the construction. Those intercoolers are good for response in theory, but I have had no issue. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

01-12-2013, 10:54 PM #10Have you been pretty impressed with the Wagner? What are iats usually over ambient after a run? I had an Agency Power FMIC. It wasn't great at iat suppression but I picked up 11hp on the dyno and WGDC dropped a ton. I'd say it was a very efficient FMIC but way overpriced. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Picked up 20whp consistently in NorCal (70F ambients). Temp rise from a 3rd gear pull starting at 2000rpm to 6500rpm no more than 5F. Running E85 430whp. For $600 very happy. That being said, the VSRF intercooler is very cheap, so could be a good option on an even stricter budget. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Looks like a great list, although I'd ditch the hood.
What about wheels, tires, and brakes? A nice set of apex ar8 wheels with some beefy tires would make the car quicker since they are so light.

I really enjoy the looks of the hood, I know it's pricey, but it's my money! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
As for the wheels, I'm going with Breyton GTR-S black w/ red stripe.

My build is on a 135i, it looks like those Arkym parts are for 335i's? And based on your sig, I see that's what you drive and use. As for the Intercooler.. kind of expensive, how much would I gain using this over using a 600 dollar intercooler? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

01-14-2013, 03:23 PM #19Prob not much :p If you're going for cheap, just get the VRSF FMIC since you're going with their DPs. Maybe they'll cut you a deal. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote2007 e92 Mont. Yeah, I was thinking about swapping over to the BMS downpipes and trying to get a lot of my stuff from Terry and then attempt to get a bigger deal that way. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Mostly because he's super active in the forums, amazing support, etc. I've never heard or read a single negative thing about BMS.

01-14-2013, 04:47 PM #21Like someone said, because the OP is going to run meth, an FMIC with minimal pressure drops is the way to go. The Helix (and other stepped cores) FMICs wouldn't be the best option, and instead staying with a more "traditional" shaped core would be best -- the VRSF, AMS, HPFThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. BTW -- I'm guessing the OP has a N54 powered 135 since he linked to the VRSF N54 DPs
Tune -- I'd personally recommend the COBB or a COBB/JB4 combo. I think you'd get more out of it (fueling needs), especially if you plan on running E85 fuel blends.
Meth Kit -- Aquamist HFS-3, 4 or 6 combined with a Trunk Meth Tank. You could prob get the tank hidden somehow, but after throwing all this money into the car why let it go up in flames because of a leaky WW neck.
Oil Cooler -- Evolution Racewerks Oil Cooler (Sport comes with 1 Oil Cooling Core, Race comes with 2)
Catback Exhaust -- Berk Technology DP-Back Exhaust (pictured below)

I think I'm going to go with the Berk street DP back exhaust. Looks the least obnoxious of the 135i exhausts except maybe CP-E but theirs is only cat-back as far as I know.

01-14-2013, 04:55 PM #23Berk sells their exhaust in sections (axle section, cat back & downpipe back), but the full system (DP-back) is basically $1k. Agency Power sells theirs in sections too, but I think you're looking at closer to $2k when you get a full exhaust system. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Many of the 135i exhausts are basically just muffler deletes. After living with the excrutiating drone of this EVO I will not have anything like that on my next car. I haven't seen the AP exhaust but it's prob not worth the money they're asking for it.

I guess I should be a little more specific. I was really wanting to try and do a quad tip exhaust on my car with either the Hartage or Inside Performance Diffuser. Not sure if I should get a diffuser and then let a company make an exhaust for me or what. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Anyone ever do something like that? If so, pros, cons, etc? I'll have all my money is roughly 90 days so no rush. Just would like to figure EVERYTHING out now so I can just place my order for everything once I receive my money.
