it isn't dumb I asked the same question. You can't have plastic 1/2'' or less from the hotside of a turbo...even if they bag it there will be serious heat generated on sustained runs.

This is just the prototype. We mig welded it but we are going to tig weld the production manifolds. After we tune the car and get a good dyno we will start on the tig welded manifolds and we will post pictures.

That would give you a chance to pass the visual inspection. Where I live, any of the inspectors would be able to tell the car being modified in case they'd see a top mount.

There are many many products for heat shielding and protection, glowing turbine housings and tight engine compartments have been happening for years. Its not a concern with the proper measures taken to protect things. Nothing on the twin scroll question guys? All it would have taken is a Split flange and slightly different runners for much improved spooling and transient response.

They replied saying they will have multiple different turbo options later on.

Now these guys get it done, nice to see progress like this. Good luck with the testing, and sounds like the production units will be much better constructed with options to boot. V-bands, TIG welding, Twin Scroll optioning, possibly some turbo supports, and careful material selection are all things to consider for final production.

We are going to offer different turbos and flanges, we are just using this turbo for the test car.
