Review: E9X 335i with ZHP Shifter

    Hey everybody,
Wanted to give back to the community as best i could, so i thought id write up a little review with some info. Its a simple/common mod, but oh well, here it is lol

    ZHP Shifter
I bought the shif knob from Tischer using this promo link (found on BimmerForums):

    Link here
It was a great price at only $63 + handling, free shipping. Shipping was speedy even through the holidays. I chose the ZHP shifter because it was half the cost of the M-Sport and looked like it was meatier (i believe it has more weight).

    Review:
To sum it up, aside from my tune, this is the best mod i have done to my car so far. This absolutely transforms the way the car shifts due to its a lot of extra heft/slighty shorter throw. An added bonus, for us Southerners, is that the shifter doesnt have metal on it = not hot in the sun. This was half the reason for the purchase, due to the fact i couldnt drive the car after it sits in the sun for more than 10 minutes Click here to enlarge

    Installation:
Super simple, just yank on the old one (i suggest throwing it into 2nd gear) and throw on the new one. Try not to twist the old shifter when you pull it off, as i believe i bent the inside plastic on the stock shifter when i did.... Oh well.

    Pictures:

Im not gana lie, at first the shifter looks slightly awkward with the boot. The bottom of the shifter is slightly wider than the top of the boot, but not noticeably so.

    Summary:
This is a rather simple/cheap mod, but i was bored so i made this thread. I hope it will convince someone with the stock shifter to switch over to the ZHP. Its definitely worth it, especially at Tischers cheap $63 price!

I have the same knob, it feels better, but I don't think it's that much of a change to be honest. Maybe bc ive had it for a year and I'm used to it by now.

Must be that you've had it so long. I really thought it was a drastic improvement over oem.

@Eric335 if you're not no lift shifting you should def look into it. Best mod you can do for a 6MT. By far!

Im not at the moment, but i know that my Procede can support it. The problem is the 2.5 SE cant support meth AND NLS. I dont have either yet though...

I feel like its a very big improvement in heft, and a small improvement in travel. Maybe you should switch back to the old one for a couple days lol What im really happy with is the fact it doesnt get extremely hot in the sun.

Yea I don't mean to be negative I guess I just take mine for granted. The stock one definitely sucked.

It might but the saying "once you go boosted you never go back" is SO true. E46s are great cars and S54s are great motors but I couldn't personally own one unless it was FI. SC or Turbo'd, doesn't matter.

FWIW my zhp is just about dead even with a stock 335i up to 60mph so since I don't track it it gets the job done for commuting.

Not bad for a 9 yr old NA motor that gets 30mpg hwy.

The 330 zhp is a great car for sure

I'll have to agree with the OP. I bought the zhp knob about 2 months ago. The shifting definitely feels better, compared to the stock m-perforated knob my 135 came with. Great knob indeed, no wonder why the new M5 and 1M MT versions come with it. Now all I need is a SSK.
