it's true, tons of psych research been going into analyzing and quantifying "happiness" of late. There is a huge difference in happiness between the guy who makes $5,000 and $50,000 annually. There isn't between the guy who makes $50,000, $500,000, and $5,000,000 annually. It's most commonly attributed to (not the correct name for this) a "chaser" effect - that no matter how much you have, your "homeostasis" for what you have gets reset, and you'll continue to lust after that "next" level, leading to no perceived increase in happiness.

Give me 50k, 500k, and 5 million and I'll conduct my own study. I think I'll be pretty happy on the third one.

Your study wouldn't be statistically significant.

The largest factors of happiness (once you can live without stressing over where your next meal is gonna come from, $#@! like that) are things along the lines of health, sense of accomplishment/meaning, close relationships with friends and family. It's possible to have 50k and be miserable and 5mil and be ecstatic, just as the opposite is true. The point is income/worth is not considered supported by research as a big enough factor. It's kinda like the whole "the more you know, the more you know you don't know" thing. The more you have, the more you know you don't have, and it's possible to "have it all" without living a healthy meaningful life.

Number of strippers put through medial school before/after would be significant I would think.

All I'm saying is I know with current work having a kid or even a marriage is gonna suck because all I do is work. Gained more weight from stress and lack of sleep. It's not like I'm uneducated and didn't go to school. I'm glad I did my degree because it leaves me an out of the hospitality. I'm currently in an opportunity that I never though would take this much of my life. I don't see friends and rarely family. Is that really worth it? I'd rather go into sales and travel some vs working 7 days a week and be miserable

Doesn't sound like it for you but I really don't mind when I don't see family that often.

Half the reason I waited to finish school. I didn't want to spend a butt load of cash on school for something I didn't know I'd want to do for a long time if not forever. Good to have an out too, kudos to you. My buddy has always wanted to be a chef and only went to school for that so it's like if he ever got sick of it he's screwed. He also knows next to nothing about the business side of it, he's learning but luckily his dad who was the President of Waukegan Airport's private charter company for a long time, lost his job and is now taking on all the business aspects of the place. Probably one of the bigger reasons they made it out of their first 2 years of business.

It just really hit me this weekend. Wasting away my 20s working and doing nothing else. More stress than ever and not making me happy and can't see it doing so anytime soon. Soooooo anyone got some Hookups for some sales jobs. Time to start talking to some contacts and so how the market is for them
