Its not about counting your reps and trying to push your number, its about giving it your all as long as you can. Doing anything for 60 or 90 seconds straight is hard as hell (and as soon as they see its easy for you, they add an element for you, like today, one was 24 inch step ups, which are easy for me, so I had to do one legged jump ups). I dont care if I did 20 last week and to go for 21 one this week cause I wont see that exercise for probably another month and I am to exhaust to even count and remember what I did on each set.

The whole counting sets is why I got tired of p90. I went back to it after starting this and got bored with it quickly. First, cause the whole limited workouts they provide and the fact I get sick and tired of trying for one more rep and then sitting unmotived until the next exersice.
Yes, and I know I used counting as an example but to a degree, but even different exercises have a progression...and I don't think the next step from step ups is one legged jumps. For example planks should max at 45-60 seconds at the top end, then from there progress to planks with alternative leg abduction, then plank with alternation leg raises, then plank with alternation arm extensions, then plank to push up to plank then side plank then side plank with hip hikes...and so on. Without a progression, and an instructor's understanding of your skill there are injuries waiting to happen, IMO.

If it works for you, great and I am much in favor of these movements. I just don't like the way p90 or insanity or the boot camps are organized. Cross fit is a bit better if the instructor chains the workouts sequentially.

Just thinking - step ups (assuming linear), then master lateral in both directions, then master reverse, then add weight, then one legged hops in the same sequence, then squat jumps, then explosive lunges, weighted squat jumps then compount weighted squat jumps into weighted shoulder raises, box jumps in all directions, into one legged squats. That would be pretty close to a logical progression, IMO. But again, that is what has worked for me.

You can say that that is a progression, but a trainer could make anyone of those for a novice up to advance all depending on frequency and time. Its not about what you do, but how you do it. I trust the trainers have a good idea.

And the class caters to everyone, I can do one legged jumps, the girl that are 20-30lb over weight cant. So, the trainers adjust it to each of our abilities. Its small enough for you to have your form check on every rotation and corrected or giving a more challenging approach to push yourself. For $10, its well worth it.

Hmm, most the folks I have seen try it have had some luck with it. But it does come down to the person. If you have gone all ur life unable to eat right and exercise, many times these work outs are fads to them and they fall back to old habits eventually.

So I get up early this morning to prepare for a webinar and decide to head to starbucks at dearborn/division for a turkey breakfast sandwich, I am crossing the street at elm and division and a hvac repair van hits a woman in the opposite crosswalk, not fast, but she screamed and I looked over and she was under the van, driver jumps out in panic and myself and another person run over to help, she was large girth and wedge in there, we all tried to lift the front of the van to ease the pressure but its was useless, luckily a police cruiser was at the Dunkin Donuts and I ran to get him while someone called 911, this cop and partner were like ufc types and lifted up the front no problem, then the firetruck comes in minutes, and the driver, has a heart attack or something and faints, now they need another ambulance as the 1st one arrives...

It was pitch black and raining/foggy at 6am. I am very awake now. I think the lady will be fine, maybe broken leg, the the driver may not be so lucky...

I will have to agree. I battle weight and it goes up and down. Depends on my job and free time. I find a lot of these programs to be fad workouts. A person that does them once in a while to change up their routine will probably last longer but from my experience when people jump into these programs expecting great things and to improve all sorts of body parts in no time they are let down and move on to another "fad" workout. I think boot camps are great and p90x is sooo boring sitting in front a tv doing. I think throwing a boot camp workout in once a week will give your body a good curveball to add to health and muscle growth and make people come baback.

When I did crossfit I was not in the best of shape. Hated it! But I'm sure if I went when I was more in my prime I would have kept with it longer.
