I found out that Osama Bin Laden and Adolf Hitler were killed on the same exact day in history.

    Coincidence?

right, I fully understand that J... what I am saying is that it doesn't matter until you actually drive it so why do people add luggage or take away drivers when weighing? Seems stupid.

It would be easier to say "you want your car to be faster here is a tip - lose 40 lbs"

You just weigh the car, you can't account for different drivers.

right so you're saying better to underestimate and make the car look more desirable on paper is the best option?

skip the luggage, add a 180lbs full grown male, full tank of gas and call it a fricking day.

how? if you weigh 225 lbs and I weigh 175 and we both drag race M3's with exact power and exact reaction times and shifts.... who is going to win?

I prefer to think of when I get in and go to a track _____lbs is the weight that will need to be carried around the track. There isn't a debate that curb weight is just that, the car on the curb. I am just saying I think its a $#@!ty misleading way to present a car's weight is all.

The lighter person or the guy with less gas in his car. But that doesn't change that the car weighs the same.

Nobody talks about car weight in the manner you are really it's curb weight discussed. I mean hey, if that's how you want to look at it go ahead I'm just considering the weight of the car.

the car weighs the same but the weight being pulled is different which is what makes one car faster than the other. that is my point. why bother with "curb" weight because in the end when it counts its what is on the road when the car is in gear.

The reason you bother with curb weight is because it would be the most important factor not the weight of the driver. A car weighing 3300 with a 200 pound driver versus a 40000 pound car with a 150 pound driver doesn't favor the lighter driver. The driver weight is practically irrelevant.

we're talking about the same car, not 2 different cars. its not about new m3 vs old m3 its about bmw listed weight (with driver estimate) vs your scale of unoccupied car.

BMW lists it on the European standard which is mandated. I personally don't agree with it whatsoever.

I don't care about the weight of the driver or luggage just the weight of the car. I don't want to subtract out weight from what they deem a driver should be to assess the weight of a vehicle. Once again, the discussion centers around if a NEW CAR will be lighter than AN OLD CAR. The cars themselves, the physical object, not the cars plus people.

but again, i wasn't debating that point. I was saying the method BMW uses is more accurate of what you can expect driving it which I prefer.

I don't understand, how is it more accurate or what does it tell you to expect when driving?
