Thinking of painting my wheels, opinions please

Hey guys, about two months after purchasing my BC Forged wheels, the clear coat on the polished lip started to peel. I stripped the clear coat and tried a few different ways of polishing the lips, but it isn't turning out as good as i want. Now i'm contemplating painting the lips, but not sold on the idea. The center of the wheels is called "brushed Black," they look like a light gunmetal color. So what color lip would look good? I was thinking maybe a dark gunmetal color. My car is alpine white.

I've alsways liked bronze on AW. Not too sure how just the lips would look painted bronze though. On aside note, are you going to cars n coffee this Saturday?

    White might look interesting.

I would consider coloring the entire wheel. Then you can choose any color.

I've always liked bronze as well. I'm curious what copper would look like. But agree that i'm not sure it would look good being bronze or copper on the lip, just the centers. I'm going to try to make it out to cars-n-coffee, i dont see why i shouldn't make it this time.

I'm not a big fan of red wheels, too "racey" in my opinion. Gunmetal and dark grey would be interesting...

The centers look pretty light so a black lip would create a nice contrast that will look SICK on a white car. Maybe go for a satin black or a very dark smoked gunmetal so it's not fully gloos black, but still dark enough to create contrast from the face.

There's a forum section for tires/wheels. Why you guys continue to insist on sticking everything in N54 is beyond me.

That might look very interesting on your car. I think either black or gunmetal would look very nice with your color.

Thoughts? I plastidipped the lip to get an idea of how it would look. Rest assured, it will be proffessionally painted, not plastidipped.

I would powder coat them instead of painting them.

Not a fan of powdercoating wheels because they have to heat the aluminum quite a bit, but i do appreciate the suggestion.

I'm honestly torn. I think the wheel looks good sitting on the table, just not sure how it would look with a black tire mounted on the car. I really look the look on a gunmetal car, like the NSX i posted above^, but on my white car it may not flow so well. Anyone looking for some project wheels? I'll give you a good deal Click here to enlarge

Why not plasti dip the entire wheel or whatever you're considering, then roll with it for a few days and see if you like it.

Two peice wheels, its a lengthy process to seperate and reassemble them. I guess i could plastidip one of the wheels i havent seperated and throw it on to see what it looks like... hrmm you got me thinking now.

I have used plasti dip multiple times on wheels and it comes off very easy as long as you put on enough coats.

    Just an idea.
