am I pushing the torque limit causing some sort of failsafe?

im not gonna bother saying how much HP/TQ I have bcuz that starts unnessary hate lol but it's somewhere over 450 to the wheels tq

has this happened to anyone else with high torque N54s at the drag strip?

Are you positive you didn't enable the kickdown button?

Mine has done the same thing, I think the transmission is slowly starting to slip.

This is the same issue i have been fighting. I have rb's waiting to be installed but all this is on hold due to tranny issues. If i go above a 50 additive my trans. will shift into 4th on its ownand some times jump back and forth between 3rd and 4th until it triggers limp mode.I bought a trans from a car with 10,000 miles to be installed this week and will have my trans. shop tear down the old trans.Only option seems to be level 10 so may have them install their kit. They are going to analyze the old trans to see if there is anything else that can be done. But as it has been stated before, until there is programming avail. to upgrade the stock parameters this will continue to be an issue no matter what parts are installed.

Sorry forgot details running jb4 g5 iso 50/50 e85/93 and meth 80/20. Mine also has gotten alot worse over time. About a month ago i could run up to a 65meth additive without issue. Now 50 is questionable sometimes it will wig out and sometimes it holds. If i do more than a couple of 2-3-4 pulls with 50add. it will act up.

well it looks like we need to figure out a viable tranny upgrade/rebuild. is there anything out there other than level 10? and is level 10 legit?

I had level 10 trannies in my built diesel trucks and i never broke one.Its just expensive. I bought a trans. to put in my car so the trans. shop i use can spend some time going through my old trans. Bought a trans for $1000 so i can still run my car while they go through mine. This option was cheaper and gave me a spare so no down time.Rebuild back to stock is 3times what i paid for the trans.

I think there is a way to look at a historical record of transmission temps using the BavTech cable and software, or using INPA and an appropriate cable. Fluid temperature is the number one killer of automatic transmissions. It would be interesting to know how hot your fluid is getting.

@enrita has a level ten transmission I think.

Is level 10 legit? Depends who you ask.

I wouldn't feel particularly confident with that option.

lol I asked the question in the most innocent fashion because I've heard it's a crap shoot. But I would like to hear from anyone who's done and done several hundred quarter mile passes with 500 ish wheeltorque

You have to be confident with it to spend $5000 on this upgrade. Besides there are no other options at this point. Thats part of the reason of me buying another trans. this shop is great and their builder built several of my others. I finally tracked him down after he moved his shop. This way there is no time restraint and he can do whatever he needs. If someone does know of another option please post it but ive researched and found nothing else.

The vargas idea is really not that bad. They were in the diesel game before and may know of a capable co. for upgraded trans. Those trans. hold well up to 1500 ft/lbs. torque. I know suncoast made trans. hardware and torque conv. for those platforms. Very durable hardware.

I would imagine the transmissions in these heavy duty trucks are significantly bigger and stronger than the transmissions found in our cars, even before an upgrade is done. I wonder if what they do on these HD diesel truck transmissions can even be done with the 335i transmission.
