    E92 335i vs. E39 M5

No videos, so I'll try to set it up with the story...

Cruising home from work Friday night when I see some BMW headlights (angel eyes visible) coming up quick through some light traffic. I could tell there were aftermarket bulbs in the headlights, angel eye and fog lights but did not know what kind of car it was until it got up next to me.

As it is along side me I can see it is an older 5 Series, so I figured the guy driving wouldn't be the type to want to enter into a contest of speed. As he pulls a little ahead of me, I am surprised to see the quad exhaust tips and M5 badge, as well as the sound of a throaty V8.

I speed up next to him to see if he wanted to go, as we are cruising at around 60 mph. Suddenly, I hear the V8 roar to life and he takes off, just a bit ahead of me. A fraction of a second passes by and I mash the throttle to the floor. I instantly stop his pull and jog past him much faster than I anticipated. By 110 I've pulled a car to a car and a half on him and could have kept pulling. I let off the gas and start to slow back down, very satisfied with the outcome.

    Mods:
    M5 - Unknown
    Me - JB4, DCI and about a 33% E85 blend with pump 93.

Nice Kill. E39 M5 is still the one of the best Bimmers ever made though. Click here to enlarge

The M5 needs the driver mod -- The S62 was 400/370 stock & your N54 with just the DCI + a mild E85 blend is prob mid-300s

Maybe. All I know is that the car feels just as strong as it did when I went to the track and had some 100 octane in it on really old JB4 firmware. Ran a 12.51 @ 112.77. (http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...th-JB4-amp-DCI) The in-dash boost gauge looks like I'm hitting 18 psi (not sure how off that is, though). Not very scientific, but it sure feels strong. Huh, a stock s62 puts down about 340whp and 320tq and weighs about 4 large. While the 335 weighs around 3600 and with e85 tune probably puts down about 350whp and 360tq conservatively.

He definitely should have won this race, either way, nice run bud.

I'd expect to you win even if the M5 had some bolt on's. I mean should be a decent race.

I whooped on an E39 with just bolt on's back in the day and everyone called BS on M5board thanks to Gustav's BS videos and I got banned for it. Then I posted my timeslip and nobody said anything regarding how no bolt on M5 had gotten anywhere near the time... M5 owners are clueless for the most part and think their cars are the fastest things in the world.
