Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) upgrade available for BMW M57 diesel owners, E90 335d

BMW 335d enthusiasts here on BimmerBoost have been clamoring for an intercooler upgrade. Well, their calls for an upgrade have been answering by Wagner Tuning. The intercooler is available for E90 335d models and the diesel X5 xDrive35d is not mentioned but this intercooler likely could be modified for the SUV application as well. Regardless, this piece is definitely a step in the right direction for BMW diesel fans who want upgrades for their platform.

We need to thanl 62Lincoln and 335dwagon from Germany on this, I recieved an email from Carlsten the owner of WAGNER and he stated that theere will be data perform, 335dwagon is going to get his IC installed this friday and he will post photos in another forum and data will be available after that, Thanks to 335dwagon who drove 5 hours and spnt the whole day getting his IC 3d scanned. The price for this will be around $650 stateside. The IC is as OEM as possible, no pun intended to CX Racing, I leaning to WAGNER, specially the OEM look

Seems like a reasonable price to me!

UPDATE FROM GERMANY: Our friend Matt made the trip to Wagner, and had the i/c installed on his car. Here's his account:

I just got back after the 11 hours trip with a 45 minute long traffic jamb and 1,160 kilometers to and from traveled.

This intercooler is awesome. Noticed a difference right away. Carsten the owner of Wagner and I did temperature checks before and after the new intercooler install. The old intercooler was reading around 64 degrees Celsius from the intercooler to the intake with an ambient outside air temp of 11 degrees Celsius. The new one had an outside air temp of 12 degrees Celsius and an awesome 41 degrees Celsius from the intercooler to the intake.

The new Wagner intercooler needed absolutely zero cutting of the front bumper to install. Just one piece of plastic had to be removed on the RH side of the intercooler. Carsten said that he would be posting photos. I will post them when I get a chance.

I left there around 1300 my time and around 0700 AM your time. Carsten also stated he was going to put in the word after I left to start production of 100 of them. Again this is a great addition to our already potent 335d engine.
GREAT NEWS! We're in the final stretch now.

    More info from Germany:

Wagner kept my old intercooler. They are planning on placing it and the new 335d intercooler on a Flow Bench to test. This should show a lot of results. I also forgot to tell you these temps were at Full Throttle going from 15 mph up to about 120 mph. It was around 220 Kph we got up to very quickly. Also for the panel that requires removal is very easy to remove no cutting involved. Carsten will be making a install manual to go along with the install. The entire install takes 30 to 45 minutes.

All I know for sure is that the 335d and 335i i/c's are different, which is what prompted Wagner to build this new i/c for the 335d. It might be worthwhile to contact Wagner directly, and see if they can give you the info you are seeking.

Amen brother! I have a track weekend in November, and I'd dearly love to have this installed for that event. Not sure if the timing is going to work, I think it will probably be available too late.

my order is stuck too, and on my last request they told me they are still in an early production phase.
Does someone have numbers of an FMIC with DPF-less downpipes on a 335d (maybe even with a water-meth -kit)?
What power is to expect from such a setup?
I ordered the first two compnents but im still in doubt if i should get a water-meth kit or not.

The product is on the website, but none have been built yet. The order for the first batch was placed with Wagner's supplier. I guess its presence there is a way on making the product's existence known to the marketplace.

Based on the timeline we were given after the test fitting in Germany (6 weeks), I don't think we'll see product until at least December. And based on past experience with estimated timelines, there's no sense in trying to hold Wagner's supplier to the promised timeline. It will happen when it happens. The good news is that we know the i/c's have been ordered, so now it's just a matter of time and patience.
