Is that to clear the steering shaft on the RHD Cars?

I can try and see mine when I finish work tonight but I can't remember seeing a dent like that. Might be best to check RealOEM.com and seeing if rhd and lhd have different part numbers for that pipe.

I know of a 335i manual box for sale here in the UK for 500, how much would shipping be to Aus?

Thanks! Be good to have confirmstion

Woah really?! Details?! Mileage/why selling etc

i normally see them go for. $4k, it'd be good to make sure my oe gearbox won't shatter

i'll have to make sure my driveshaft/diff will still fit though.. Unless i just get a new ds lol

    Here you go bud:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-335-PE...51187303368%26

Spare parts are ridiculously cheap in the UK. I bought a full rear m3 subframe with diff for about 400 and I got one for someone else a few weeks ago for 350.

And as far as the turbo pipe is concerned, the RHD and LHD both have different part numbers, RHD:

    and LHD:

On closer inspection, there's been a hit where that dent is in a metal piece above it - so yeav not factory is my next guess lol

i'm going through looking at all the parts just identifying them as i've never even owned a turbo motor, let alone this one :p

That pipe setup is similar to a 135 motor. 335 and 135 have different rear turbos due to packaging constraints. Just order a 135 pipe and you will be set.

    nice photos Flinchy!

All the RHD 335i and 135i (and 1Ms) have the same size rear turbos.

The turbos themselves are exactly the same but according to Realoem, the rhd 335i seems to have a different intercooler pipe (part number different) to all the LHD cars most likely due to the steering joint passing right next to it.

But rhd 135i and 335i are the same?

I know rhd differs to lhd

Spent a while cleaning it up just before, started unbolting stuff

decided to remove the dangly oil cooler.. Oh right, oil coolers are full of oil, guess who covered himself and the floor in oil?

yep. After cleaning that mess, ima grab some rags and containers before i tackle it next lol, should only take a few hours to strip 90% of it Click here to enlarge

i have a dymo, will just label everything with reference photos lol

i dont think 135 and 335 RHD are the same...I will check realoem right now

*EDIT* I stand corrected...the part numbers are both the same for RHD.

Which means that RHD 135 and 335 share same turbos.

they COULD have different cores? as long as orientation/piping blah is the same, no matter to me really

on a development note, I've found a few parties/people etc. that seem willing/able to install the engine, all nice and local, all good reps/history, good progress on that already Click here to enlarge

and so far one shop has said they'll be able to do the engine build, innov8 in brisbane, builder of engines for dick johnson racing, built engines that have won V8 supercar championships... we'll see what they come back with Click here to enlarge

so, yeah, the N52 and N54 have different starter motor locations (left to right), new gearbox and custom driveshaft time

post your cheap 335i/135i gearboxes plleeasseee >_<

now for sure i could get a N54 gearbox to N52 diff input made up? lol

Correct that all i need is the front half of the driveshaft able to mate with the N54's gearbox, and the rear to fit my diff, that can be lengthened/shortened as needed?

unless someone can convince me to get the N54 diff as well, i can't think of a good reason though (3.46 in my current one being a good enough reason to stay just about haha.. as well as knowing all the halfshafts line up fine.)

So thought i'd post what's happened to date

shopping around for an engine stand is a pretty key thing for progress right now, considering it's sitting on the downpipes for one.. that'll be a tomorrow/weekend purchase maybe.. i JUST started back working after holiday break, so money will flow again finally

getting a gearbox, about 800GBP shipped (1200ish) which is a pretty sweet deal, as long as i'm not getting scammed or the bellhousing is trashed (i don't care about the internals, i'm going to strip it anyway since i have no idea of the true condition, or if it will break at REALLY high power abuse)

also ordered a bentley manual to help me understand a bit more of everything about the motor/electronics of the car, hopefully it will fill the few gaps left.

plasti dipped the wheels on the weekend, you guys may not like it, but that reallly doesn't matter haha

    what happened tuesday:

    M3 front upper+lower control arms
    E90/92 M3 front sway bar
    BC BR coilovers
Powerflex upper rear shock mount and new OE rear bottom mounts
    235 F, 245/40 R KU31's fitted, 5mm spacer up front

best of all this, my front end CLICK is gone, i thought it might have been the steering rack bushing (rare issue), i'm in luck! haha.. car no longer creaks when you sit in it either, yayyyy.. also handles much better and is WAY more comfortable than stock, it's a marked transformation

    pics:

sitting at 120mm, guards nice and flush, fitment damn near perfect, rears rub guards a tiny bit due to 40 profile over stock 35, needs a few more clicks to stiff, could handle going lower

so.. well i'll be easy to spot on saturday now for those going! hahaha (black tail lights too if i haven't posted a pic)
