i use the plx wifi . i bought that 2 years ago and never used it since it cant read my 07 k-line protocol but turns out now its usefull. i would get though the bluetooth one now because you keep the internet connection. Also the iphone gps has only 1 ghz refresh rate which is slow. a 5 would be better.

The GoPoint BT1 and XGPS150 are stackable bluetooth devices. So you get the speed, RPM and gear from OBDII and the XGPS for tracking at 5Hz!

It's all there but a short summary on how you can configure this app with external devices:

    1. Run the app by itself, it will use the internal GPS which refreshes at 1Hz (slow). This means your data will not be accurate. VBox runs at 10Hz for comparison purposes.

    2. App + external GPS (i.e., Dual XGPS150). This connects via Bluetooth and the app will no longer use the internal GPS. The refresh rate is at 5Hz. This is the highest one they have for the iPhone.

    3. App + OBDII device. There are several, one is the popular Kiwi WiFi which basically plugs in to your OBDII and broadcasts via WiFi. The app connects to this and you can have an accurate reading for gear, RPM and vehicle speed. The newest one is the GoPoint BT1 which also plugs in via OBDII but connects via Bluetooth. The iPhone does allow stackable BT devices for complete wireless itegration.

    4. App + external GPS and OBDII. This is the optimum setup. I would go with GoPoint BT1 and Dual XGPS150. There are other devices on his site but this is the ultimate. Add a wide angel lens, and you have video + accurate overlays on the track. The app will auto record when you cross the starting line, so you just set it and forget it!

If one is trying to track their speed do you have any other recommendations?
