Twin screw, yes. They are stuck on the tuning - I suspect the project will be aborted since other things are higher priority.

The negative comments for the most part seem to be one way as you mentioned but like anything else it is specific people; not the general population. Usually these people are the one's who are most insecure. I have respect and appreciation for all the kits. If I ended up buying one of the cars with an ESS kit I am sure I would be just as happy! I can understand someone speaking negatively about a competitor if they had owned one of the kits and switched over, but this is just blind negativity . I'm looking forward to being more active in the community so we all have another AA car that we can use to compare...friendly of course!

Good post and another Supercharged M3 in Jersey cant wait tell everyone is together for some run's.

I looked into this, and 3 things keep me hesitant, the ITB's, tuning (althoug has to be able to be done eventually), and DCT

ITB's ive been told are fairly easy to overcome, but the dct and low-end tq scare me, if i were a manual guy, i wouldnt give a shyt

What kind of tq numbers do you expect from a whipple? DCT 335 guys are holding 430ish tq at the wheels between 3-4.5k.

Then I took another dyno posted by Jean at VelosDesignwerks of a VT2-625 at 7.5psi. They were both dyno'd in Miami, FL. I am not sure if it was done at the same location or even the same conditions.

What I did was use the handy dandy Photoshop, and I transformed each graph so that the X and Y axis and scaling lined up. Believe it or not, it actually lined up significantly better than I expected. I purposely left the right side of the image sloppy so you can see how I lined everything up.

So take this photo for what it's worth. I did it just so we can visually see the differences between the two kits that seem most comparable without having any DRF files.

I know it's not the most scientific nor controlled comparison. But I specifically chose these dynos because of where they were conducted and the close levels of boost. Considering that Andrew@AA mentioned that the newer GTS5555 holds power better up top and may be good for 10hp or so, I would LOVE to see what a current out-of-the-box AA Stage 2 and ESS VT2-625 stack up on the dyno and track. No extra modifications to the standard offered kit. No funky tunes. No funky pulleys.

Of course that would be in the ideal world, which is likely to not happen, haha.

ORIGINAL DYNOS are property of Active Autowerke and Velos Designwerks respectively. If you want me to take down this photo, I will gladly do so. My intention was just to provide a visual representation of what is being discussed here, not to step on any ones toes.
    Can I use thatgraph?

Here are better ones that I made that you can have. I remade them so that they don't have the Velos Designwerks logo on there. I also included conditions and a little more detail about the individual cars. Hopefully this makes it more clear that it was clearly edited on Photoshop and not WinPEP7.

Once again, the original dynos are property of Velos Designwerks and Active Autowerke. I simply just took the graphs and overlayed them in Adobe Photoshop for my own personal analysis. Click here to enlarge

Highly doubt the vortech makes more power down low.

Does anyone notice that sudden spike in power on a lot of these ESS dynos? It doesn't happen all the time, but I seem to be noticing it more and more whenever I see dynos from E46 and E9X M3s boosted by ESS.

It looks like in the last couple hundred RPMs, there's a huge 15-20whp spike. I'd imagine that to make absolutely ZERO difference on the street and track, but a marvelous way to over inflate realistic numbers. Or maybe I'm looking into it way too far and it's simply just a dyno anomaly?

    Here are some examples:

Yes, at redline, inflates the peak numbers.

I think it has to do with the throttle closing and opening. ive seen the TPS logs showing they will close and open suddenly there.

Im really suprised some dont just talk about "AVG" hp, since some only use "AVG" boost measurements

Yes, the throttle bodies closing will cause a spike.

Good marketing strategy in some ways if it's done on purpose.

One kit could be making less power everywhere through the rpm range and just make more peak at the rpm limiter as the result of a spike on a dyno. However dyno HP sells.

Thanks for the replies and bit of information. I definitely learn something new every day! I never got a response from any of the other companies, so good to know that I can find solid information here from everyone. Click here to enlarge
