    MT Questions

We're considering getting some MT DRs (probably the street radials) for the 2.5 and ran into a few questions. Where do you guys recommend buying yours from? What reasonably priced wheels would you run with them? I think we are going to have to go with 18"s because the Alcon brakes are so huge.

I buy all my tires from summit racing: http://www.summitracing.com/

I switched from the BFG drag radials to the MT's and could not be happier, much better radial. However, if I were to buy radials again I would now go with the Hoosier. Definitely consider the Hoosier!

Summitracing is great for MT tires! Very quick and they stock tires better then anyone else from my experience. As far as wheels not sure, make sure to get the right offset. You are going to want to run a 305/35/18 MT and you need the proper offset. Something like a 30 or so.

17 inch wheels are the way to go, the more sidewall the better.

The 305/18's have pretty much the same sidewall, but from what I saw on Rob's car they rubbed a bit...

E46's are going to have a hard time fitting 305/35/18's. But with 17's you may even be able to go to 40 sidewall.

This is true, the diameter on the 17's is actually taller.

Stupid question. So, are you guys running mismatching front/rear wheels? I currently have HRE 891Rs. Will I look like a douche with those in front and 17" APEX in back? Completely different wheel designs.

You just run it at the track, it is normal.

Great links, thanks. I wish we could run 17"s but I don't think we'll be able to with the huge Alcons in the rear (343 MM rear). At least this is why I think Brian ran 18"s when he had DRs. We just asked him and he said he ran a 295/35/18 DR.

And here's Brian running with the BFG DRs:

You could always take the rear calipers off just for the strip...

I have been running the 17's out back for a few months now, I think it looks mean and shows you mean business Click here to enlarge

These rims were specifically made to clear all these large BBK's out back. They clear my 355mm Brembo's and should easyily clear your Alcons. Contact the guys at Apex and they can confirm it for you.
