    ^ That is awesome.

Literally cannot wait to see the dyno - see the car, and learn more. What a perfect engine this is going to be.

Although I was really hoping it would be tuned with the stock DME, I still CANNOT wait to see this thing finished.

Specifically I mean supercharged S65 V8 application. Are cams worth it in that case and wouldn't they have to be Schrick cams?

This is an all out hill climb/race engine. We will be tuning it with Pectel (Cosworth). The stock DME is great for street use, but it really limits the potential for 'race' applications.

Makes sense. Would you be able to do it for a street car as well? Who would do the tune in that case on the stock DME?

That car will be sick with this engine. Click here to enlarge

I don't think it's going to be a hard task for tuners who can mess with S65's DME.

Agreed! So long as you go with a tuner who can really manipulate VANOS mapping, one should be good. There are a few tuners that we all know of that have been doing cams on other BMW platforms with great success. It's just a matter of time when someone has the guts to do it on the S65B40 with standard DME.

Yeah, he's really the only one I recall. I would love to see some thorough dynos showing his results. I remember him mentioning solid gains, but at that time, he may have mentioned revamping the tune a bit more. My curiosity lies in how the power band shifts, if at all.

Yeah we did re-tune that car but the gainswhere not what we were expecting. I think maybe we were expecting too much. But it makes 42hp more than my car on the same boost. So I suppose that's actually a good gain for cams in a boosted application. The problem is the tuning is almost impossible to get right at low revs with the grind Schrick has. The car is driveable but rough at low revs & clears up from around 3000rpm. Then it just plain revs like no other. I think we need to get a grind specific to a supercharged application & it will be worth while to gain 50+ hp on the wheels on the same boost.

That's really good isn't it? What cam profile did you use? Which Schrick cam?

How bad is it down low? Can you live with it?

A supercharger specific grind would be awesome but can we make it happen? How hard is the tuning?

    Yeah Schrick 284's.

I can live with it, 'cos no-one races below 3000rpm. But driving in traffic its lumpy. Too much overlap at low rpm.

Tuning is not that hard. The hardware is just not designed for boost. I think Schrick will do it, they have before. But somone will have to give them the exact specs to make the grind. That's gonna' be a lot of R&D.

Can't we pool our resources for this and make it happen?
