Went to the track last night... slowest FBO Cobb tuned Meth & E85 335i ever?

I definately need some more seat time and cooler weather. I was hoping for some stronger traps, even in the heat. I got in 4 runs, best being a 13.062 @ 114.95 with a pathetic 2.3 60ft. Pretty sad. I was shocked at how slippery the track was, i anticipated 1st gear would be useless but i was getting wheel spin through all of 2nd and some of 3rd - without powershifting and on 275/30/19 Michelin PSS(i should mention these dead hook on the street).

The good news of the night was that i was consistently picking up 25mph on the backhalf - not bad given the heat.

I a stock auto E92 335i was out there, his best of the night was a 13.9 @99. so i guess i dont feel too bad about my trap speed.

Im going to head out a few more times to try to get a feel for launching the car better, and hopefully come this fall i can click off some better times as the temps come down. I also may need to invest in the WOTbox that dz is running.

All in all, great time - even with $#@!ty times.

That 2.3 60' is what is killing your times. Work on your launch and you'll definitely see some improvement. If you're slipping on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, that isn't going to help too much, either.

It's just your 60 foot that really held you back. Once you get that in the 1.8x or lower range you will be happy.

If you just improved your 60' to a 2.0sec you'd be at a 12.4sec ET.

1.6sec 60', same tune same conditions, and you'd see an 11.6-11.7sec ET. Work on your ET. Your trap is great given stock N54 trap.

Oil/fuel on track? Michelins should hook a little better than that. Better luck next time!

+1 for the launch. Track must have been pretty slick for you to be roasting them all the way through 3rd. next time hopefully its prepped better. GL

If you spin and drop boost off the line you will kill your ET AND trap speeds. Try a smooth easy launch and go WOT as soon as you can and you will see your trap speeds improve.

114.xx isn't bad at all given the heat and crap launch though.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement, ill definately be going back out to give it a few more attempts. After seeing what other cars were trapping i guess i cant be too upset. A stock ZR1 was out there, only trapping 123. Seems like most cars were 5-7mph less than what they "should" run in ideal conditions. My goal has been to trap 120+ on stock turbos.

Reviewing the logs the car was running GREAT.

What were the temps at the track? Have you ever used the cobb ap performance menu to do a 1/4 mile run? If so what were the results?

I remember my first time on a 1/4 mi track. I had been racing on a 1/8mi forever and blamed my $#@!ty times on the $#@!ty little 1/8mi track. I get to an NHRA sanctioned 1/4mi track near my hometown and am shooting for 11.9. I ran 12.9 consistantly all night. I was so pissed. best time, 12.9@113, that was right after I dyno'd at 407hp/455 tq on a dynojet. I'm 6MT and know that shifting is prob my main prob. I was cutting between 1.8 and 2.0 60' all night. I'll be installing a 2step/NLS Friday hopefully and we'll see what kind of difference that makes at my local 1/8mi track. Next mod is LW wheels and DR. Keep trying man, it'll get easier.

Temps were mid to low 90's. Never tried the Cobb quarter mile. Might have to play with it.

Give it a shot, I'm more curious to see what your trap speed will be. I know its not nearly as accurate as a vbox or a timeslip but you can still use it to get a delta after different mods or adjustments to your tune. Back when I was running stage 2+ best I was able to get was 12.59 at 119.95. I wish I could still use it with the jb4 Click here to enlarge

Don't feel too bad, I went last night as well and the weather was killing me. Best time I managed was a 12.5 at 115 with a 1.995 60'. Down here in south LA it was 90 degrees and 80% humidity so I was pleased. I am procede FBO with 50/50 meth and 50/50 e85/93.

Oh and there was a lingenfelter ZL1 camaro (first time I have seen one in person, much less a lingenfelter) there and the best he could manage was 12.6 at 116, that made me feel much better. His slower than expected time gave my car quite a bit of attention from the mustang and camaro lovers.

Were you at No Problem or State Capital? I was at No Problem a few months ago and the best I could do was a 12.9@113 but there was a highly modded Evo X there with 2 step and he was running 12.8@110 so I didn't feel so bad. LOL I did enjoy the track though, way nicer than the crappy 1/8mi we have here.

It was at no problem, track actually hooked pretty decent. I only spun one of my runs the others it gripped and bogged on me.
