Q: Can I used octane booster in the methanol tank?

I know it's a stupid question.. but I don't really know about the car and I need your help!
I really want to increase octane level so I'm thinking about adding meth kit on my 1m. However, I don't want to run methanol because of side effects. so here's my question. Can I use octane booster instead of using meth?

Go ask at E90post. They're more noob friendly. But your question may be so stupid that they may not even want you there.

Fine I'll try to answer you question with a question of my own. Why would you spray octane booster into your chargepipe when you can just pour it into your gas tank?

    Just be nice guys.

You use octane booster in your gas tank. Why have a meth tank if you aren't going to use meth?

If you want less side effects I'd recommend the meth depending on what octane booster you are using as it will eventually clog injectors. Seriously, just run 50/50 meth.

You guys are way too harsh seriously. @yokohama , welcome to the board and no, you shouldn't run octane booster in your meth tank. You "could" but its better to pour it in your tank.

Your question isn't as bad as some on here made it sound like. M5 methanol from VP Racing Fuels for instance contains nitroparaffins, which are relatives of nitromethane in the same chemical family and these are also the main ingredient in your typical octane boosters.

Here's a little excerpt from the fuel experts at VP Racing Fuels:

I'd use regular methanol like VP's M1 for the injection. This is what I personally use. All you are using the injection for is to cool the air charge. This is how you get more power, because you can add more timing or boost with a cooler charge. M3 has a hydrocarbon in it and won't pull the heat like M1. M5 has a hydrocarbon and a combustion additive. I would definitely not use this. It could have bad results by combusting in the air inlet tube between the turbo and the throttle body. M1 is your best choice.

Haha - true. But it should be noted that an improper Meth setup could lead to problems. A properly engineered one is fairly safe.

Nice answer. I was wondering about the chance of exploding the carbohydrate/meth/water mixture before it even make it it to the combustion chamber.
