The transmission is stronger than most people realize and there are several upgrades available.

the m3 needed to go like last year. that thing is slower than dirt. it's being traded after the gt-r is sold. i'm selling both because i'm working on opening a business and i need my debt to income ratio down to 0.

M3 would be faster with the right mods but this isn't the place to tell you about how awesome FI M3's are.

You opening what we talked about earlier? You haven't even gotten a chance to enjoy this GTR. Why spend the $ to mod if you knew you would just sell?

I don't think he is going to be thinking about that until after his business is going.

m3 zzzz. needs big turbos. i don't see that ever happening. don't get me wrong, m3 is a great car, but i got drinkin' that kool-aid. gt-r is everything i wished the m3 would be.

and yes, i'm doing that, but i'm wanting to go a bit bigger. we'll see what happens

until probably december or january, i'll probably pick up a range rover i guess. i was thinking about getting an escalade because i could get one cheap, but that might a bit too rapper for me. after the business is open and i can spend money again, i'll have to get something fast again. don't know what yet, but i would spring for a 997.5TT pdk if i was buying a car tomorrow tbh.

For those of you that think the M3 w/ FI will beat the modded GTR, I am sorry but you are wrong. Mind you, I love my BMW and I can give you a dozen reasons why I would rather own one over a GTR, but the GTR simply puts the power down better.

To beat a heavily modded GTR, even a stage 2.5 HPF car will likely not do, ya have to bring out the big dogs (like my GT2Click here to enlarge

yes, but GTR's are producing close to 800 awhp on a stock block. They will dominate the 0-100 and hang even above 100.

Again, I am not a Nissan fan just describing reality.

I agree. The modded GTRs are beasts in the 1/4 and look unbelievably easy to drive.......like, phone on the shoulder, switching tracks on the Ipod, and fondling your girl while knocking out mid 10s easy to drive.

I researched this very thoroughly at one point (I had issued an open challenge to NOGTROC for a money 40-160 roll onClick here to enlarge And their weight disadvantage is offset by the dual clutch.

A stage 2.5 could win but it would have to have a number of variables stacked in their advantage.

I am guessing a stage 2.5 will handle most GTRs unless they are heavily modded. Figure the top gun 60-130 for the stage 2.5 is 5.6 and I have run a 5.9. I don't see many GTRs getting down that close with out serious power upgrades.

Edit: Sorry OP for the serious off topic, and best of luck with the sale!

Hey, we moved the thread TTT, the OP should be gratefulClick here to enlarge

    I think I was going to run a GTR owned by a guy named Hing...It trapped 148 in a 9.8 1/4.

We never worked out the logistics, However. I will probably ruin Jamie Carters at the Supra nats this year...we need to get your HPF car in the mix.

    I disagree.

M3's with FI have beat modded GTR's, it really just depend what mods both cars have. From a roll the AWD is a detriment, not advantage.

They have been bending conrods at big power levels, check out the discussions of NAGTROC. The stock rods are adaquete for stock-ish levels of power but it seems like once they start pushing well over 500rwhp they're a concern.

I researched the GTR a lot, I was fully intending on buying one. The two big things that concerned me were the fact that CA gas sucks, and I did not want to deal with race gas or meth on a daily driver. Especially since there are no race gas pumps near where I live. The second thing is that building a GTR that runs reliably at 500awhp on 91 octane meant a GT570 kit plus a fair amount of tuning. That was the advice given to me by SPE, and they most definitely know what they're talking about. A midpipe and Accessport would have yielded a nice amount of HP. But not 500 to the wheels on straight pump.

Bending rods about 500 whp? It is pretty easy to get above 500 whp so that concerns me. I haven't heard much talk about the rods being weak but it seems Blake has not had any issues with his rods.
