Dzenno, do you have any schedule in mind for getting your car running again?

The stock valve/spring/retainer were shipped to Ferrea on Monday. Its approximately 2-3 weeks turnaround on custom valves. The shop will need another 2-3 days after they receive the valves to finalize porting and put the head back together.

We're not going with Inconel. A decision was made to go with Ferrea's Super Alloy, 2200-2400F heat rated material, i.e. good stuff!

I matched the head work/valve job with some semi-radical cams (cams/head work go hand in hand). The problems started from the shop that had extensive machining experience but had little to none working on Z32 heads/blocks. Using MLS head gaskets and ARP hardware still resulted in leaking valves/heads. It still made gobs of power but perhaps the lack of a torque plate made it a bitter sweet experience. I hope it all comes together for you but don't be too surprised if reliability is compromised for your DD.
What exactly leaked- coolant or the head gasket combustion seal?

At idle nothing was leaking. Higher boost resulted in the heads slightly lifting enough to ingest coolant . After a few thousand miles of this the head gaskets needed to be replaced...and the cycle would start over again. The car was a lot of fun but very frustrating. It was more like an expensive hot girlfriend.

@orange, how was that related to porting though? Wouldn't with that power that scenario be likely anyway? I guess as with any modification beyond stock there is a possibility of something going wrong, only in this case, its quite expensive

Perhaps power had something to do with the issue I was having but there are several 700+hp Z32's out there that weren't constantly blowing gaskets like I was. There's always an inherited element of risk when you re/re the heads especially if they are decked. Torqued down to the perfect spec is crucial.

Ordered new OEM valve springs from Tischer Monday and of course they are on nationwide backorder Click here to enlarge Custom valves have shipped from Ferrea Monday and should have them some time next week..new retainers and locks were done for the exhaust valves out of titanium making the whole valve+retainer+lock assembly weigh a nice 5 gram less per assembly..each stock valve is 35 grams so about 10-14% lighter valvetrain on the exhaust side..dont think this matters much when it comes to gains but it was nice to see weight not exceed OEM

My buddy has a 830rwhp SS camaro. PT76 on a LS6 block, forged rotating assembly and AFR heads and other goodies and he had a similar issue. Except when it lifted the head it would pressurise the cooling system and blow coolant out of the vent into the overflow tank. He's now running a new setup with PT91 hybrid and 6.0 iron block and some trick machining to help out with the problem.

Its due for dyno tuning later this month/early next month and is expected to be between 1,100-1,200rwhp.

Not done yet. All the hardware is in, now the head just needs to be put back together, touched up at the ports and seats cut..was supposed to be done last week but due to some shop guys being sick with flu last week it looks like either this or next week, at least that's what the shop tells me...we'll see

So, the main delay has been in waiting for some of the parts?
You've been quite long without driving your car.
