Not your typical ESS supercharged S65B40

SSPerformance in Norway has swapped in a S65B40 into a tiny 1 series, then decided to slap on an ESS Supercharger. I'd take this over an E82 1M any day!

Yes, it's a 6 speed manual gearbox from a e92 M3, same with diff and brakes. It runs Bilstein coilovers and a VT2 625 kit from ESS. Cool car

Speaking of swaps here's a swap recently done here. E36 chassis with S65, with Pectel standalone of course. Soon to have a custom AA SC kit.

Means it will be a ton of fun.

Cool swap. The S85 and S65 both belong in more BMW's.

I will do an S85 in something eventually. Just not sure what.

Agreed!! One day, I'll be throwing an S85B50 in an E46 M3. I really would love to use Apex Speed Tech, but according to SS-Performance, they are able to do all the swaps retaining the original DME!! Click here to enlarge

They're the one's who did that swap. They're from Norway.

    www.ssperformance.no/en.html

They have done an extensive amount of swaps...pretty insane!

Good point. I figure, where there's a will, there's a way, haha. It would be rather interesting to inquire and see if that's something they can do. Building a harness, hacked DME, tune, etc. I'm sure any very reputable race and fabrication shop can physically do the swap, just a matter of finding a way to integrate it all.

What can they swap this into? E46 with the factory S85 DME, what else?

Honestly, I'm not too sure. I've only seen their swaps in the E92 and E46.

Then there's that one thread here about the E36 M3 with the S85B50.

Personally, I'd love to shove that motor in a E46 M3 and 1M haha

It would be epic in an E92 I think as well as E46.

A Z8 is definitely a great candidate but unfortunately those damn cars are still so expensive.

I wouldn't mind buying a couple low mileage S85's and sticking them in the garage. I could see the S85 being a highly sought-after engine 15-20 years down the road for project cars. They should go up in value. One of the best road engines BMW has and will ever build.

Not sure about them as an investment but agree with all your other points.

I want to build an all motor beast out of one, stroked, heads, raised redline, etc. Maybe do this in an E9.
