Personally i owned one and loved every minute of it. As for no tq of the line for autos to launch, lets be realistic here. The auto tranny cant hold real power and as for launching its a little thing two step for those with a real transmission. Some of you make it seem like this is the first car to have under gone this. The car has more then enough tq to be fun under 3k, its not a civic guys its an inline 6 lol
I have driven a few well executed big turbo cars. I've driven a MK4 Jetta 1.8T big turbo making 430 whp on pump gas, a 560 whp Golf VR6 Turbo and an Audi B5 S4 pushing 550 awhp. All three of those had suspension mods, LSDs, bushings, etc etc. The first two are FWD cars so you have to be more careful with those anyway. You really could not drive these under boost in a corner or out of one, simply because the front end would loose traction as if it is sliding on a carpet of banana peels. You could not launch them too hard either because of the horrific wheel hop they would experience. So the Jetta and the Golf that I drove were only capable of putting their power down on a straight line and higher gear. Unless of courses you wanted to do burnouts which were super easy..

Only the AUDI was somewhat driveable because of the Quattro, and even then you had to be careful in a corner because the car would first try to understeer, then balance out in a 4 wheel drift. Launching the Quattro was fun, but it takes a lot of skill. Not everyone can launch quattro cars properly, let alone with a big turbo kit on them. Its a fine balance between burning the clutch or bogging the engine down and loosing boost.

I still maintain that while the big turbo kit for the N54 will be A LOT of fun, one has to be on top of their driving game to maintain control of the car. That, or drive it off boost like grandma! ...and where is the fun in that?
From all the things I've lost,
I miss my mind the most!
