    My budget E36 Build

    the car...
99 5mt w/80k on the clok. mods so far are pss9, CAI, and borla exhaust. (iknow iknow...im getting rid of the borla)

    the plans...
initially i wanted to swap an s54 in the e36 but its too much of a nightmare so i changed my mind.
looking to get 550rwhp on 91oct

    the budget....

    cannot exceed $10k
this includes all ancillary parts to accommodate the added hp (ie brakes, sways, etc)
turbo kit (trm most likely) but i want to run a 6268 on this s52.

    parts acquired so far....

    m50 intake mani

any suggestions on good sources on parts on the west coast would be appreciated.

suggestions on tuning as well in cali would also help, thanks!

I would think about other kits as well. You have a 99 m3, and Max Psi has a killer kit. Trm is/has started doing obd2. There is also http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1716766 Technica Motorsports. I'm not sure what ur power goals are, but Trm will not do a long distant tune for a meth kit and they want meth jets in each intake runner. Not something you want to do in a plastic intake manifold. A D/I manifold is about 2k. The other companies I mentioned do meth tunes, and being in Cali with 91 octane thats something I'm sure is important. If you want shoot me an email gjonn1@aol.com

I'm not sure why TRM has the loyal following they do. Sure, well priced kits and such but wasn't it determined they ripped some of their tunes off?

I'm sure there tuning solution is great but I don't know if that would give me confidence when wanting to go outside the box.

Since this is a strict budget, certainly TRM is a good suggestion but I wouldn't just leave it at that. Other suggestions should be welcome.

i never said who was tuning it. i don't really want a box tune. i just wanted a charge pipe that doesn't hang low. which was why i thought of trm. do other kits also route the plumbing over the axle?

if the hpf car can handle 550rwhp thats not even all in, than i think a s52 can too. gg didn't you make about that on your baseline with the fp turbo or was that with meth?

plus this won't be a mls gasket. i want to do it right with pistons. this 10k budget is for parts because ill be building it and maybe 1k for tuning but i'd almost like to try tuning on our local dyno.

i don't get the trm coilover joke. im not cool like you milk.

I believe the Max Psi kit is also over the sub frame as is the Technica kit. The Technica kit is the cheapest, but comes with a gt35r. The Trm Spa turbo can make more power then a 35r but has more lag. Milkt wasn't joking about the Trm coilover kit they do make1. I had a friend with it, and it wasn't that great for daily duty he said. The Trm turbo kit is over the subframe for sure. I made 540whp and 504wtq with the upgraded HTA 3586r with maf issues. Others with obd1 Trm tunes have made more then that on pump fuel.

i don't want a 35r or a spa. maybe an fp. who do you think has the best hardware and who provides the largest plumbing out of maxpsi, trm, tech?

If you are planning on rocking a stock dme with obd2 I think having changeable maps can be done by pretty much everyone mentioned. Max Psi offers tuning for obd2 via Nick G, and they do tune with DTA, AEM, and other systems in house.

9.5.1 I believe, and honestly don't remember the specs.

Why not just do a Vipec and have @Apex Speed Technology tune it?

It may be a little fancy but it sure won't hurt.

You definitely have options. Don't sweat not having bf.c, I'll make sure you get taken care of and we have vendors who can do it. You aren't a cheap commodity here.

Let's see how we can get you that 550 whp on 91 for under 10k.
