questions about my frankenstein boosted M50

I catch my self on this forum all the time just ready and getting as much info and knowledge as I can, when it comes to boosted beemer info this seems to be the number 1 spot! anyway on to my questions

I have a m50tub that Is getting installed in my 88 m3 right now
    The m50 has a 89.6mm s52 crank knife edged
    1+ bore
wiesco forged rods and pistons (everything balanced to 8k)
    9:1 cpr
    custom ground cam
    arp 2000 headstuds
    ported and polished head
and boost is being provided by a borgwarner 70mm turbo

thats about it for my build till I start building the head alittle more. for now I just want some drive time.
Anyway when I first started the build I was going to keep the 2.5l of displacement but later changed my mind and bought the s52 crank. I then had to change my rods obviously...

my question is this. originally I was going to be running 8.3:1 cpr now the motor is built to 9:1 cpr I like the idea of sometimes running 25 or 30psi just to make big power!! what are my options for street power, and big weekend numbers while having a motor for years to come?

Sounds like a fun engine. What exactly are you asking for here?

nobody?? I know 8.5:1 is alittle more forgiving for running boost then 9:1. could I run 15psi daily with 9:1 cpr. how much power do similar setups make on 15-20 psi?

I think you will be fine with 9.0:1. You can still make pretty huge power at that compression and have better response than the 8.3:1.

You can do 20 psi with 9.0:1.

Everything will hold together with a proper tune/fueling. Who is tuning the car? What r ur goals for this car? A numbers whore? Track whore? Or street/track whore? These questions must be answered.

I am looking for someone that can tune megasquirt 3 at the moment. My goals for the car are to make 500hp daily. It will be a track/street whore. Since the bottom end is fully built and i have 1000cc injectors i dont mind the idea of running race gas / meth if i have to and 30 psi though. I basically want a fun car that with slicks and alittle more boost can run low 10's high 9's.

I would suggest maybe contacting 5mall5nails on bimmerforums. He has helped/tuned many cars on megasquirt. You can also contact Mike R at Max Psi in NJ, or Jordan of RK tuning in Long Island NY. Good luck.

    sick!

to answer your question. yes race fuel or ethonal( if you want to mod the fuel system some more to accomodate e85) otherwise race fuel with maybe meth too.

go with high compression ratio.. and use e85 then you can easily go for higher psi the 20..

my stinky old m20 did good at almost 45psi and i run 8.9:1 ratio

How much power did you make on 33psi? Its ashame that car is no more, i love the video where you are at a stoplight and just monster burnout on all these unsuspecting strangers.

Yeah its a shame Click here to enlarge but there will be a new one for this year Click here to enlarge

on 33psi it gave 650whp, but the best thing that old engine was that it gave 832nm (613ft lb?) at the wheels at 4000rpm, so for propper burnouts that engine was mad Click here to enlarge

You should have no problem at 9:1. In fact if you go lower the engine will feel unresponsive.

500 hp is not hard to achieve with your setup.

The MS3 is a fantastic tuning device, but you need someone who knows how to use it. If you have the time and energy try to tune your own engine naturally aspirated first on the MS3, you will learn a lot.

20 psi is nothing, go for it. Use E85 if you have some in your area, tune for it and you'll pick up more power.

Other people eat shit and die.

I'm not racist, I hate everybody equally; especially fat people.
