Cool F10 M5 seen on the 'Ring

Still on my top 3 for next car

After countless spy photos of the new 2011 BMW M5, today, we have some footage to share with you of the same M model. Due to launch in 2011 with a world premiere scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show, the new F10 M5 will not only be one of the “greenest” M cars built to date, but also one of the most aggressive and fastest models coming out of the M Division.

The car uses an updated version of the 4.4-liter V8 twin-scroll powerplant found in the BMW X6 M. Official numbers are yet to be revealed, but sources close to the brand indicate that the upgraded engine powering the M5 will peak at 578 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque. Based on these facts, we expect the F10 M5 to run from 0 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds. The numbers are estimable at best and also, understated in our opinion. If the final horsepower numbers will stand, then the new M5 will have 60 horsepower more than the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and similar output as the Audi RS6.

With the next F10 M5, BMW will continue to emphasize their efforts in the EfficientDynamics program. Further technologies aimed at reducing fuel consumption without sacrificing driving pleasure and performance, are being part of the new M5. The V8 will also feature cylinder shutdown to aid with fuel consumption overall figures and a 25-30% more efficiency is expected, when compared to the current E60 M5.

Well, as long as they don't screw anything up with the looks, I think it will be something to look forward to. I love the look of the current M5 Click here to enlarge Hate the MPG...

so a 25-30% increase in efficiency will definitely help...putting the 10mpg to what, 13mpg? Click here to enlarge

Screw mpg, V10 sound alone is worth it. The S85 will most likely be the best sounding engine BMW evers produces.

I'm with you, but it is fuel economy standards that are ruining it all.
