    Defeat at Orlando Speedworld dragstrip

So I returned to the dragstrip. Let me begin by attesting my that I'm so thrilled to have dragstrip access. And on that note, let me further add, that I might as well not have it. It's really a question as to wether it's a dragstrip or not. Anyway. My last visit, I ran with a TT stage 1 kit on my built motor, running somewhere between 11 and 13psi, tapering to 11 at redline and trapping a best of 115.8 and a best 12.6 time.

Now, on my current engine, it turns out a few parts were damaged before assembly, things have only gotten worse. So, in short order, things are all getting rebuilt, but before I getting to that, today I traveled to the drags. And to try to make up for the lackluster performance, I'm going to try to go again shortly.

Today i did three runs. All plagued by wheelhop, I stayed in it. It was stupid, I know. Lesson learned. This was my first venture on MT DRs.

On my initial pass, I missed second, for a very long time.

This is the third and best run, only a marginal improvement over the second run.

The guy with the camera swore he caught this run on film, but he totally didnt hit the record button.

this was the fourth run attempt

I waited at the strip for about four hours, but then i had a team to push and trailer my car home. In the mean time, i snapped a few shots of my car where it awaited its tow.

But in the meantime, I got to take pics of my car and watch some seriously fast stuff. The only car there, during this private track rental, which was slower was a fully sorted gnx being used as a driver training car.

I can't believe you drove to the drag strip without a bumper....and the Fig Newtons decal is missing too!

Silly BMW, you are so silly. Put your bumper back on BMW you are not a Honda!

j/k, nice runs. 12.6 at 116 is damn good for 13 psi.

i was happy with those runs when i did them two years ago.

Oh, and about the bumper, it has been almost as long since i havent run one. I have one, but it needs to be painted. I drive the car everywhere kinda like this.... well, actually, it looks more like this:

i actually ran a e46m manual driver's seat out of my e36 sedan. That race seat, with the mounts i currently own puts it so high, that' it's awesome for street, but not for helmet fitment. So to avoid having my head preloaded to the roof, I changed the seat as my new seat mounts wont arrive till midweek.

If i make it out to the drags again this year, i may change the seat. Maybe not. Minimal different for drag.

oh, i just realized i forgot to upload that pic... lol.. thanks
I called it as soon as it happened. And I'm so thankful that it's by far one of the most inexpensive parts of my drivetrain.

my crank is in questionable condition and there are things that i'm trying to engineer that I'm considering... greater point being that these next few runs will be the last on this setup.

thanks, but a 2.09 60' is shameful on oil-soaked tires. much less drag radials.

This is still low boost, the same setup I ran like a year ago. Same tune as always. The kit has had a few tweaks and improvements.

I think it shows good potential.
