David Stern has officially blocked the trade. It was stated in an official NBA statement.

Now Chris Paul has said he will not show up to camp tomorrow and is seeking legal action. He is treating it as the trade is on hold, not canceled.

This is only the start of this INSANE move by Stern. What a $#@! he is?!

Chris Broussard of espn just reported Howards representatives have told the Nets they are his number 1 destination.

Now he might not show up to camp, unless he is traded.

Will Stern block that trade, because the Nets already have Deron Williams.

Just like everyone else, I want to know what these"basketball reasons" for blocking the trade are!!
Must be a $#@!ed situation for Odom and Gasol who thought they were traded and all of a sudden they are not.
Reporting to training camp for these two will be a bit akward.

Yahoo Sports reported that Stern killed the trade after several owners complained. Citing anonymous sources, Yahoo reported Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was one of the most outspoken owners upset about the deal, done the same day as the end of the lockout, which was supposed to restore competitive balance in the league.
What is Cuban complaining about? He has one of most stacked lineups every damn year.

Everyday I lose more and more respect for that f*cking pussy.

You would think he would be the last person to complain.

This whole situation is just rotten to the core.

The best part of the letter: "This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets."

(Translation: "Let's cut Demps' balls off, throw the last few weeks of negotiating out the window and go back on our word. Also, I'm thinking of starting a support group for small-market owners who overpaid for their teams, don't have the balls to sell and would rather whine, $#@! and bully about their lot in NBA life. I'm going to call it O.A.: Overpayers Anonymous.")

    (Translation: Boooooooo hooooooo.)

There it was, in all its Comic Sans MS glory, that whopping conflict of interest that had been staring at everyone for 12 solid months. How can a league own one of its own franchises? What happens if it has to, you know, make important trades and stuff? The league always knew that, at some point, the Hornets might have to trade Chris Paul. They claimed they had a plan in place. And they did. Until O.A. started $#@!ing with even more fervor than usual. That's when Stern's eroding power finally sank him. Instead of backing a decision he had already made, Stern choked like Nick Anderson. The unthinkable happened.

Gilbert is such a little b*tch. If he didn't want to deal with a team with small market problems. Don't buy a team in one of the sh*ttiest cities in the US. He must realize no one wants to play in that city, not even a kid that grew up there.

Cuban is another story. That guy straight bought his championship. He had one of most loaded line-ups in NBA season last year.

I might be an optimist but I still think we get CP3 and D12. My tickets will double in value if this happens.

I read a report the Hornets are still working on shopping chris paul. I believe they mean reworking the deal to the lakers, so it can go through and stern's $#@!ass can say "oh it is ok now."

Looks like the Nets might have f*cked themselves with dwight howard. If the tampering charges are true, people will lose their jobs and they will lose draft picks.

I have also read, the veto of the CP3 trade could walk the lakers right into signing howard. Reports are Nets might be signing Nene.

    All this is just nuts.

This years championship doesn't count anyways. Just like one of the Spurs shortened season championships.

    This just in.

    Yahoo! Sports:

The New Jersey Nets made a four-year, $60 million-$65 million contract offer to free-agent center Nene, aggressively pushing to steal him away from the Denver Nuggets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Nets general manager Billy King was presented the offer to Nene’s agent Dan Fegan on Friday. Nene could make a decision as soon as Friday night.
They certainly won't be pursuing Howard if they get Nene. This move might be to dodge tampering charges.

    Interesting point.

With Nene they are out of the Howard sweepstakes, crazy year already.

Dan Gilbert needs to stop being such a butthurt $#@!:

Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.

I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).

I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.

I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.

When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

    Please advise….

    Dan G.
