the thing i was worried about with raceland downpipes was the quality, $189 quality will definatley not be as good as $800 but i was wondering if the difference kinda balanced out, do you know the hp gains from AR vs raceland with a jb3 + DCI?

they will likely be the same.....about a 20-25hp bump...thing is the longevity between the two.

i was looking at Active Autowerke downpipes, $300 less than AR and AA has a good reputation, but still slightly out of budget. would these be a good choice?

I had fitment issues with my AA pipes. AR is the best. I'd be inclined to try the new VRSF pipes or whatever they call them. Look to be copies of AR for half the price...

CPE downpipes are also very nice, around the 5-600 range.

If you dont have the money now, do not bother buying sub-grade parts for your car. This is a BMW, not a honda. You will indeed get what you pay for if you cheap out...not to mention the labor of fixing the problems by being cheap in the first place. Since you are already tight on funds that just digs you a bigger hole. Be patient (unlike half of my customers lol), save up and buy quality parts the first time around...it might seem a lot in the beginning but your wallet will thank you laterClick here to enlarge
