Yes your IATs are miserable. I see a bit of knock retard as well in those logs which isn't good at all. You also flatlined timing going into 4th.

Is this the Stage2+FMIC aggressive or Drive/Sport? Your mod list and location indicate you can run the aggressive map without a problem.

Like I said before, it makes no sense that a 100 lb difference between a 335i and 535i results in a car that's at least 5-6 MPH down in the quarter mile.

Ya, this was stage 2 aggressive. I came in with 1/2 tank of 93. Next time I would come in much lower then get some race gas to insure I had the octane to run it. The IAT's are, well, are what they are given the conditions. Sitting there for 20 minutes will heat soak anyone's car. I suspect that is the cause of most the issues but I'm going to log some more and make sure something hasn't changed.

I do think, given the combination of things like stock tires/rims, stock exhaust, new driver and any amount of unknowns (I heard gearing was a bit different) could equal up to that. Also, the #'s you reference, aren't those the "high" end guys? I'm average, if anything, at this point (until I get some more runs under my belt).

My track times indicate that I am below average actually. I trapped 118 mph with DCI/DPs/FMIC stock exhaust and stock wheels with Continental DWS with a 12.4 ET. This was on Stage 2 race. I'd venture to say I'd be 2 - 2.5mph slower with stage 2+FMIC aggressive.

Either way, trap speeds indicate power. You're still 5 mph slower than an "average" 335i with the same mods and transmission. There's gotta be something else going on with the 535i's that cause them to run so much slower. Maybe the exhaust is more restrictive than the 335i? It's not just the 100 lb weight differential either.

the 335 he raced with jb4 on map 2 only trapped 103 and 106 so maybe its just a slow or incorrect reading track.

Do a 1/4 run using your cobb and see what you trap.

what mods on the 335? was he running any DPs with map 2, what octane? When i run my car on map 2 it suffers, but when i run Cobb stage 1 its crazy fast. And im cattless and DCI only running 98 Euro octane. So maybe the 335 has no supporting mods or bad gas.

    For a 2008 335i Sedan:

    Measurements
    • Width: 71.5 in.
    • Height: 55.9 in.
    • Length: 178.2 in.
    • Front track: 59.1 in.
    • Rear track: 59.6 in.
    • Wheel base: 108.7 in.
    • Cargo capacity, all seats in place: 12.0 cu.ft.
    • Maximum cargo capacity: 12.0 cu.ft.

    • EPA interior volume: 105.0 cu.ft.
    • Gross weight: 4652 lbs.
    • Drag Coefficient: 0.30 Cd
    • Curb weight: 3594 lbs.
    For a 2009 535i Sedan:
    Measurements
    • Width: 72.7 in.
    • Height: 57.8 in.
    • Length: 191.1 in.
    • Front track: 61.3 in.
    • Rear track: 62.2 in.
    • Wheel base: 113.7 in.
    • Cargo capacity, all seats in place: 14.0 cu.ft.

    • EPA interior volume: 113.1 cu.ft.
    • Drag Coefficient: 0.29 Cd
    • Curb weight: 3660 lbs.
The weight difference between the two is even less than the 100 lbs as I previously stated.

The main point is not about what the 335i actually weighs, it's the fact the 535i's are obviously much slower than their smaller 335i counterpart and I want to know why that is. The difference in performance between a 135i and 335i is not as pronounced as it should be with a roughly 200 lb differential in weight.

Yes it's me in the avatar...

Comparing numbers for you guys here are REAL weighed in at registration numbers for the E60... the E92 numbers are REAL weighed in at registration aswell...

Now... as before... if my math isn't failing me, 1755kg are 3869lbs.

There are ofcourse differences with options being ordered in the car, electric seats etc,.

You can see here that my old E60 530d only weighs a little more than that E92 335i:

    Eiginžyngd (kg): 1610

And after "all the math" 1610kg comes to 3549lbs.

Be as it may, your E60 535i may be loaded, the heavyest example i have seen for a E60 was a 545i Induvidual that was LOADED with options. It weighed in at 1870kg if i recall correctly wich is 4123lbs.

    535 has the following:

    idrive
    comfort sport seats
    comfort access
    nav
    ipod integration
    Auto trans

So not really loaded with options. The FMIC is a good 30 pounds heavier and I'm about 230 (6'5"). I did confirm the exhaust goes from two pipes to one after some "box" that could be a resonator. I'm thinking about removing the factory cats, putting in race cats and a new muffler. If I do that, I will run two pipes all the way to the muffler to open it up a bit. That may be the issue, who knows.

Answered my own question. It's a center muffler (#3). WTF? Am I wrong in thinking this thing just needs to go?

Just ordered a magnaflow catback system (choices are limited for the 5). I think I will have them make some custom midpipes for me and delete the secondary cats. The magnaflow system is dual piped all the way thru with a shared resonator and muffler (but 2 in, 2 out). That should alleviate that problem - don't ya think?

Sorry bash - just saw this. He is running an intake but I don't believe he has DP's. He was saying he had traction issues as well but when we both got going, it was pretty even - I was maybe a touch bit faster on Stg 2+ then he was on map 2 (which is about what I would expect when matching up a 335i vs a 535i with the respective mods).

Here's a clip of me on the strip. Ran a 13.3 on this (bad launch, lost traction) running against a much slower car.

It's about an 80 minute trip for me from just outside Raleigh. So that would probably make it a 2 hour trip for you. Next time we go down would you be interested? They are closed until Spring but myself and Drew (in the 335) will probably head down then during another "fun run" day.

I would have to see what I'm driving by that time. My 5 is being parted out so it wouldn't be nearly as fun as it is now...but if I have the AMG...then yeah I would be down haha. Just message me as it gets closer and we'll see what's up.
