    Cat vs. Catless DP install?

How much more effort is it to install catted Down Pipes & will they pass the NC sniffer inspection?

What county are you in? The inspection process will vary per county. In Wake (Raleigh), they only connect to your OBD-II port - no exhaust sniffer check for newer vehicles. As far as actual difficulty for installation, I don't think it's harder one way or another - just maybe a bit longer going catless as the CEL block will need to be installed.

If you are not sure, call an inspection station to verify if they do a visual examination and/or a sniffer check. I think going catless will be very risky if you do have to pass a sniff and/or visual test. My understanding is even going with a catted DP, the emissions are still raised but you *should* be ok to pass (albeit with thinner margins). You need to also make sure you have a device that is clearing the emissions codes from the OBD port.

To me, the gains would have to be significant to justify no cats. Not because I am an eco-hugger, but because of the stink without cats.

Was just looking to see if the no-cats were a better physical fit. Would prefer to have catted pipes.

I am sure it fits better without the buldges in the piping.

I never really had huge problem with smell and catless.
Better fit? Or room to work with? Either way tight quarters under there.

Room to work...saw a vid of cat less install & it did not look to bad. Was thinking about the cats bulges possibly causing me problems. Wanted to add down pipes for map 2 on the JB4 with 93 octane gas.

I did install my catted CP-E DPs myself and the cats didn't really create any extra hassle, though it was a tight squeeze to work there. I still try to get a shop to do the install no matter what DPs you choose...
