I remember seeing a sketchy but insane looking/sounding video of a crazy n/a built s54 ... I think it was supposedly 450 bhp or something ridiculous like that and I've never been able to find it, does that ring any bells?

I would sell a liver to build a high strung 3.6 stroker S54 and drop it in an E30 or E36 with all out NA parts, cams, valves, headwork just all motor I6 screamer.

    Nice work PEI as usual.

i'd use a b32 rod to end up with better ring pack due to larger comp height piston. im not sure what the deck height is but you must be getting into to around 21 or 22mm. don't worry about the rod ratio it is less important than ring seal. certainly dont do two rings unless you are doing a drag racing engine.

i'm assuming you really meant without the spacer on the block? or was that a typo?

how much is the crank worth?

I've spoken to some ppl who worked with assambly of Hartge S50 and double checked everything, so there is no way to use 139mm rod, because of different big end diammetre of the rod (49mm on S50B32 vs 50mm on S50B30 engine)... Hartge has 50mm rod end diam. JE calculated compression height to my custom specs with 142.3mm rods - 24.21mm. Only 2 ring package. Click here to enlarge

Deck hight is 216mm. If you calculate stock S50B32 or S50B32 assembly height you will get 216.8mm
    My geometry is 99.8/2 + 142.3 + 24.21 = 216.41. This is utilize stock width head gasket 1.75mm

May be I should rebore 139mm rods to 50mm big end dia... Any advice will be appreciated

P.s. Cost of crank 1300 euros. I will NOT use head spacer

I don't think it's worth trying to push the stroke. Just add boost.

I apologize for my previous stupid post.

According TIS and Carillo connecting rod catalog big end bore of S50B30 and B32 rods is the same - 53mm. So this is not problemto use B30 bearings and B32 rods together. There is no need for machine work at all.

Digger, thank you for advice Click here to enlarge

you can do 3 rings with 24.5mm comp height if you use a smaller pin size 20mm (use thicker wall pin though so it is still nice and stiff as the pin reinforces the piston). the oil ring will need a rail as the pin will cut into it but this is nothing new or anything to worry about. the 3mm shorter rod will make it much easier to use 3 rings.
