The show was a BLAST!!! I cannot wait for the next one!

Big shout out to all the organizers, Tim, Mike, John, and Travis for making this possible. I was only able to speak with Travis this morning, shame I didn't get a chance to meet the rest of them today.

I think we just about hit 1200 cars.

Also big thanks to Neel! He gave me the walk around of the E30 and it's nothing short of astounding. I don't think I've met a more chill person!

The car is very easy to drive; we focused on having as close to OEM drivability as possible. Th car has done about 6500 miles in the last year, and gets driven daily and hard by the owner. Its a car that invites hooliganism - its so smooth and tractable that you feel like doing burnouts and drifting the car everywhere. Fun for messing with people who think they have fast cars.

The car cold starts prefectly, and idles at 950 RPM. The gearbox is stock M6, and in 6th gear it runs about 2500 RPM at 70mph. The clutch is stock as well. The steering using the stock M5 electric power steering unit, and it works brilliantly. The car is easy to drive at parking lot speeds and doesn't feel odd at all. If there's one oddity, its the non-boosted brakes. They take more effort than people may be used to, but they work well and have ABS.

Thanks to the cage, the chassis is stiff, but the MOTON shocks are setup for a good street ride. The car was perfectly comfortable for the drive from the DC metro area over to Aberdeen Md, about 80 miles of mixed roads. The alignment is conservative and the car tracks perfectly. The re-covered Sparco race seats are adjustable fore-and-aft but not for rake or height. This is the only thing that would make a really long drive annoying, just that you're in one position for a long time. But otherwise, there's just nothing odd or tiring about it. The car has a well designed exhaust system and very good sound insulation - there are no problems speaking on a cell phone at highway speeds. The Becker Monza Stereo has 2 speakers and stinks - that's the owner choice and preference. It does not have air conditioning, again the owner's preference. It would put the car over 3000lb and he says dry air bothers him and he doesn't use it anyway.

When it becomes time to lean on it the car doesn't disappoint. The fuel mapping is flawless and it pulls strong from 3000 RPM to its 8600 RPM rev limit, so well that I would rarely downshift on the highway. At one point an E92 M3 cajoled me into getting on it - I didn't even downshift from 80. Just nailed it and pulled away from him like he was in a Jetta, letting off around 120. The car is very tossable - Will Turner drove it around the parking lot drifting around like a pro for a few minutes before we left. You can nail it, dial in some opposite lock and drive it sideways down the street. On the way home it rained and i got to sample the traction control some more - in the most extreme setting you can just nail it anywhere and it tracks straight, even mid-corner. In the mildest but not off, it feels completely controllable even on slick streets.

We set out to build the ultimate E30 daily driver, and I feel like we met or exceeded every expectation. If it were mine, I'd have standard seats, cruise control, air conditioning and a better stereo. But that's because I am a softee who takes a lot of 6-8 hour road trips. But for the owner, who drives it around DC every day as a sick commuter car, its right on the mark.
