    n54 fuel pump issue

I remember a bunch of my friends telling me that the fuel pumps on their 335s would always go...being now that i just ordered a z4is with that same motor...do i have to worry about that fuel pump issue? or was that resolved for 2011...one of the service advisors told me it was but i thought i would confirm here

The fuel pump for the N54 does have a history of failing, so far there have been no known fix for it. Some people have had it fail on them multiple time and other are still on their first one. I wouldn't worry about it to much. If it does fail, BMW offers a 10 year, 120,000 mile warranty for it.

oh and you should know the most common precursor to the problem; long cranks. If you get them, take it to the dealer to avoid it from becoming a safety problem

I've just had pump #3 installed, and I've only had the car for a shade over one year (from new). My previous pump was the one that was not supposed to fail, but it did after only one month.

But the benefits of the motor far outweigh the cons! The minute an aftermarket fuel system is available, I think everybody will make the move Click here to enlarge

Don't forget we want to see lots of pics of your Z4 when it arrives .. it's one of my favorite BMWs and I wish I got one instead of the E92!
