    Chiplogic M6 runs a 11.6

After a competitor managed to run a 11.91 with a M5 my tuning house decided to push the envelope a bit and get the highest recorded quarter mile time. The vehicle ran a 11.6 with the following mods: Software, Decat, rear exhaust boxes removed and Mickey Thompsons. Some lightening was done including changing out the front seats which weigh around 40kw each.

Wow very speed for such a pig of a car - wonder what it would do on street tires.

Unfortunately in South Africa they do not give slips after each run. The official figures will be posted later today so I will post up that information.

I am very curious about the 60ft of this pass. I believe you entirely - I am more curious about traction off the line. TCS enabled? Disabled? Oviously the MTs contributed significantly to hooking-up.

The 60ft time was 1.7sec approximately but the airfield did not cater for 60ft and there is a chance the time was run with zero roll out. We have gotten thousands of questions about this time as well as the previous 11.91 with a E60 M5 from another tuning house so we are planning to do a experiment.

We going to Vbox the car with the Mickey Thompsons and simultaneously log the throttle position of the run. The driver says he had to let of slightly in second as well. The car was run with no electronic intervention. A slightly better time has been Vboxed on the road so I have no doubt with the track equipment.

To date there are only two known V10 cars to have run Mickey Thompson DT's and both ran elevens so I do not think the result is necessarily indicative of the cars power. As a matter of fact the M5 exited at the same speed with a 80kg deficit in weight.

Quick update on this. The local tuning competition has reached new levels.

My tuning house Chiplogic has managed to better the E60 M5 time of 11.91 to a 11.8something run. The opposing tuning house got very close to the M6's time running a 11.7 with another M6. This solidifies the fact that a well tuned M5 and M6 can run well into the elevens with drag radials as four different cars have now achieved this.

I am highly surprised that the guys haven't starting using drag radials on S85 powered cars state side as the traction in South Africa has got a long way to go to beat the tracks in the US.

No surprise at all that S85's can run 11's with bolt on's, none.

What I'm surprised with is that the guys with manuals haven't tried to really put down some amazing times considering they can launch at a much higher RPM.

i have an m6 that with the current setup im confident can run 11.80-11.99, just waiting for the right weather here in the north east, as it is well know the s85 doesnt do very well in the heat. i have a set of mt drag radials as well and with my current setup the car made 510whp, im tired or arguing about if my car really made that power or not so please im not looking for anyones opinion on that. Congrats to the owner/tuner of that m6 that is an amazing run!! what was the trap speed??

you guys are running some of the fastest times in the world over and over again, good stuff!!! what do you think is the reason for this?? are these cars making allot more power than what we have been seeing on these cars?? your not the first to use dr so there has to be a reason why these 2 cars are running so fast and consistently

i do have the slip but how does that show if the car is stock?? trap speed is a little high but so is the 430whp baseline, as far as the 12.19, nothing special... what should a well driven stock m6 run??

It won't show if the car is stock.

I assume you at least removed charcoal filters?

Do you have the baseline dyno as well? What fuel was used?

A stock M6 on street tires should run mid 12's at 115-118 depending on DA.
