Wow! I clicked on this link from a different forum...praying to find a M-DCT fluid change DIY.

Awesome work so far! Although this thread is riddled with the normal FI trolls...just like every other forum. Nonetheless...sub'd for updates!

Lol at another email catching you off guard. Just make all your various accounts have a forwarding rule to whatever account/s you actually check. Gmail is a great option because you can just archive everything and within reason never run out of space.

DCT Built Part IX - SSP billet DCT fluid/oil pan - major part of cooling system upgrade

As promised in the previous update on the DCT build, we are bringing you details on the cooling system. What you see here is the SSP billet pan and this has been the major hold-up in the completion of the cooling system having undergone multiple designs. What this pan offers is an additional 2 liters of fluid capacity, cooling fins to dissipate heat, additional cooling through an external source, and better access for fluid changes.

With more material on the bottom as well as cooling fins this will act as a giant heat sink of sorts similar to the cooling system upgrades SSP offers for the GTR. One of the main obstacles for the DCT is heat build up and the idea is to get as much fluid out as quickly as possible. Even if the hardware is upgraded if you can not cool it is just a waste as it will be burned up just as easily as the stock hardware.

The pan will be able to connect to an external upgraded cooling source where the additional fluid can be pumped to. It will also offer easier access to change the DCT fluid when necessary. This billet pan forms the major portion of the cooling system upgrade which will retail for somewhere in between $2300-$3000 and will be compatible with all current BMW DCT transmission.

I forgot to add, SSP produced some new 1000+ torque capacity clutch discs for the GTR. Since my trans is still there I will be upgraded to this even higher capacity discs. So, a good thing to come out of the long wait.
