Nothing wrong with water. It will actually help maintain temps in the 225-250 range because it will boil off. It just consumes more fuel. I just foil the bowl and leave it empty. Lots of people...

I don't use any water. Personal preference when it comes to cooking but it will obviously take longer to get the smoker to temp. I always dump ash after each cook. If you have too much it will...

Interesting, I thought lump was supposed to burn hotter too. How do you set your vents? Do you use water?
The hinge is the best purchase I have made yet. Just wish I had it before I built my...

Why do you feel that you need a hut or warmer weather? I smoked a brisket for NYE this year and I live in MN. My WSM has no issue holding temps fine in the winter. I smoke between 225-250...
What I asked/am asking for:
Google Pixel C or a Nexus 9 depending on how deep its price gets cut (missed the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals where they were 40% off, DOH!)

Couple of new shots of the cart. Back side doesn't have the door hung yet since I cant count and didn't pick up enough screws. Got one shelf in but need to do the second. I think the next task...

Looks awesome. I need to smoke one next year for sure. Probably a few practice birds this winter though....

Agreed, as long as you don't use briquettes with starter fluid in them, I think you are probably safe.

I plan to pick up a bag of RO Lump at some point but I have been using Kingsford Competition because I had some left over. Burns well and just flat out works. I didn't have an issue with the ash...

Any particular reason over briquettes?

The ribs were great. Best I ever had? Probably not, but it was my first 2 times smoking, ever. I, and in turn the ribs, will only get better as I smoke more. The first rack I smoked I likely used...

Ribs are pretty easy too. I throw them on the smoker late mornings on Sundays for dinner. The WSM is easy to use overall as well. Doesn't take a lot of fuel and temp control is pretty easy.

Ha, same here. Had to have the GF come out every time I needed to do anything with the brisket.

Haha, I cant wait to install mine. Going to be so handy.

Well, I ended up picking up the 18" WSM. Smoked a few times on it but forgot to post up so here is a bit of a dump.
Arrived from Amazon:
Some accessories and smoke wood:

Anyone have pictures of the notch or is it a pretty obvious thing?

Probably a stupid question but, 14.5"/18" WSM or a $100 Brinkman Offset for a noob smoker?

How has this not been deleted? Sticky
I guess it really is time to ditch the COBB.
How did you clean it? Need a BT cable or MHD to reset adaptions, correct?
Let me know what you find. I suspect a boost or vac leak but haven't cared much to track it down.
Probably correct. My idle isn't steady and will often idle high at startup. Settles down after a few seconds but no other issues.
FWIW, I have this code but I have not raised my idle.

Well, that is disappointing. I would love to smoke for football Sundays but getting it all set up and smoking over night up north has to be a huge PITA for a first timer.

I don't smoke currently but would like to so take my input with a grain of salt here. I have a badass Weber (can put in chips and smoke them for flavor) as well but I still want a smoker. The...
